Time is something that one cannot always come to rely on in the times of dreams or days. They all know that things change when the green smoke appears. In a time when things are simple and not so complicated, a handful of kids realize that things just got a little more complicated and challenging in their lives, and they would remember everything and nothing and be responsible for their lives and for each other’s. When you’re a kid, things go easy for you until almost in an instant, things are more bizarre and twisted. You’re not sure if it’s a dream or reality. You begin to wonder where you’ll end up or if you’re even where your mind is as things turn strange. Get ready for a tale that’ll have you in your dreams coming out or not.

Whatever you're facing, you probably wish you had somewhere to turn for guidance and support. Imagine you had a resource that could not only share wisdom, but also lift you up and show you that you are more than just your struggles. That's what Flourish: The NIV Bible for Women is about: becoming who you are in Christ through your relationship with him. Drawing on the truths of Scripture, the features in this Bible will strengthen you with insights and encouragement for the issues you face. Myths articles expose commonly accepted myths of our culture that many women believe—misconceptions about love, relationships, God, fulfillment, sex, faith, identity, and more. Each article opens with the first-person story of a woman who believes a particular myth and how that affects her life. Then, principles from the Bible refute the myth and offer practical guidance and help. In addition, the Think About notes take you to the heart of important topics such as marriage, conflict, money, sex, and pride, equipping you with biblical insights that help you face common concerns with uncommon wisdom. In the form of personal interviews, Ask Me Anything profiles introduce you to 30 women from the Bible. Offering frank insights drawn from the best and worst of their lives, they have much to say about life today. You'll find questions to reflect on, either alone or with a friend or mentor, in the Flourish: Questions for Growth. And the He Is notes highlight attributes of God, giving you a bigger picture of the God who loves you and longs to be in a relationship with you. Altogether, these resources combine to offer you the knowledge, strength, and clarity to navigate life's challenges with God's Word as your guide and to be the capable woman God created you to be. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Swamiji, a Hindu holy man, is the central character of Storytellers, Saints, and Scoundrels. He reclines in a deck chair in his modern apartment in western India, telling subtle and entertaining folk narratives to his assorted gatherings. Among the listeners is Kirin Narayan, who knew Swamiji when she was a child in India and who has returned from America as an anthropologist. In her book Narayan builds on Swamiji's tales and his audiences' interpretations to ask why religious teachings the world over are so often couched in stories. For centuries, religious teachers from many traditions have used stories to instruct their followers. When Swamiji tells a story, the local barber rocks in helpless laughter, and a sari-wearing French nurse looks on enrapt. Farmers make decisions based on the tales, and American psychotherapists take notes that link the storytelling to their own practices. Narayan herself is a key character in this ethnography. As both a local woman and a foreign academic, she is somewhere between participant and observer, reacting to the nuances of fieldwork with a sensitivity that only such a position can bring. Each story s reproduced in its evocative performance setting. Narayan supplements eight folk narratives with discussions of audience participation and response as well as relevant Hindu themes. All these stories focus on the complex figure of the Hindu ascetic and so sharpen our understanding of renunciation and gurus in South Asia. While Storytellers, Saints, and Scoundrels raises provocative theoretical issues, it is also a moving human document. Swamiji, with his droll characterizations, inventive mind, and generous spirit, is a memorable character. The book contributes to a growing interdisciplinary literature on narrative. It will be particularly valuable to students and scholars of anthropology, folklore, performance studies, religions, and South Asian studies.

Features: * The story of the Bible ... in its own words * Events, characters, and teachings of the Bible arranged chronologically After Judas left, Jesus gave the disciples a glimpse of what was to come. He foreshadowed the fact that he was going to be 'broken' and 'poured out'--- he was going to take humanity's punishment for sin on himself. While they were eating, Jesus took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and gave it to his disciples, saying, 'Take and eat; this is my body.' Then he took the cup, and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them, saying, 'Drink from it, all of you. This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins. I tell you, I will not drink of this fruit of the vine from now on until that day when I drink it new with you in my Father's kingdom.' Jesus warned his disciples that he would be with them only a little while longer. He went on to comfort his confused followers. 'Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me. My Father's house has plenty of room; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. You know the way to the place where I am going.' Thomas said to him, 'Lord, we don't know where you are going, so how can we know the way?' Jesus answered, 'I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you really know me, you will know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him.'
