Book Synopsis Activity+cookbook For Two's by : Tarla Dalal
Download or read book Activity+cookbook For Two's written by Tarla Dalal and published by Sanjay & Co. This book was released on 2007 with total page 100 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Be creative yourself- the most ordinary items can provide hours of creative play. Your blanket could be a curtain as you enact a bed time story to your two year old and allow him to do the same. All the pots and pans in the kitchen – your child’s first mountain….start thinking?? There is no end to what you can do, but the one rule that you do need to follow is to let your child have as much freedom as possible in the area of creative play. Along with opportunities, make your home ‘creative friendly’ example, a two year old who has a low art drawer in the kitchen has a creative head start over the same-age child who has to wait until someone has time to get the crayons down from a high shelf! Provide positive reinforcement. Comments about creative work should be appropriate from the child's point of view and that relate to their own perception of the activity: Say “That looked like fun" or "You worked hard on this" instead of "That really looks like a dog, fantastic!". Try particularly hard not to interpret a child’s work as a representation or evaluate your child's work. Remember the "doing" of an activity is always the important thing, than the finished product. AS A PARENT, you can have enormous influence on your children's creativity,. Give your child encouragement for good tries and interesting ideas, appreciate their unusual answers and unique ways of approaching problems, give them the feeling that to be "wrong" is just another way of learning, and you'll be helping them towards a life of creativity. Book Synopsis There Is No One Way to Teach Math by : Henri Picciotto
Download or read book There Is No One Way to Teach Math written by Henri Picciotto and published by Taylor & Francis. This book was released on 2024-09-10 with total page 233 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A collaboration between a seasoned math teacher and a research mathematician, this resource offers balanced instructional ideas based on student intellectual engagement and skilled teacher leadership. It is solidly grounded in many areas of classroom practice, but rather than serving as a prescriptive how-to manual, the authors invite reflection and discussion across classrooms and math departments, much in the way you would share ideas in the teachers’ lounge or across the table at a conference. Chapters offer practical suggestions and concrete examples to teachers of grades 6–12 on just about every aspect of the job: manipulatives, technology, lesson planning, group work, classroom discussion, and more. In opposition to the idea of a “one-size-fits-all” curriculum, the authors explain how to integrate teaching techniques: formal and informal, student-centered and teacher-led, experiential and rigorous. Chapters also include vignettes, as well as many links to curricular materials. Ideal for math educators of grades 6–12, this book is both comprehensive in its strategies and sensitive to the complexities of teaching. For these reasons, math departments, coaches, teacher leaders, and faculty at other levels can also easily reference its content where relevant. This book offers multiple entry points for teachers and departments to discuss and enhance their practice, making it essential reading for any math educator or professional development opportunity.
Book Synopsis Money and the Age of Shakespeare: Essays in New Economic Criticism by : L. Woodbridge
Download or read book Money and the Age of Shakespeare: Essays in New Economic Criticism written by L. Woodbridge and published by Springer. This book was released on 2015-12-25 with total page 296 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this collection literary scholars, theorists and historians deploy new economic techniques to illuminate English Renaissance literature in fresh ways. Contributors variously explore poetry's precarious perch between gift and commodity; the longing for family in The Comedy of Errors as symbolically expressing the alienating pressures of mercantilism; Measure for Measure 's representation of singlewomen and the feminization of poverty; the collision between two views of money in a possible collaboration between Shakespeare and Middleton; the cultural spread of an accounting mentality and quantitative thinking; and money as it crosses the frontier between price and pricelessness, and from early bodily-injury insurance schemes to The Merchant of Venice .
Book Synopsis English Revenge Drama by : Linda Woodbridge
Download or read book English Revenge Drama written by Linda Woodbridge and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2010-09-16 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Vengeance permeates English Renaissance drama - for example, it crops up in all but two of Shakespeare's plays. This book explores why a supposedly forgiving Christian culture should have relished such bloodthirsty, vengeful plays. A clue lies in the plays' passion for fairness, a preoccupation suggesting widespread resentment of systemic unfairness - legal, economic, political and social. Revengers' precise equivalents - the father of two beheaded sons obliges his enemy to eat her two sons' heads - are vigilante versions of Elizabethan law, where penalties suit the crimes: thieves' hands were cut off, scolds' tongues bridled. The revengers' language of 'paying' hints at the operation of revenge in the service of economic redress. Revenge makes contact with resistance theory, justifying overthrow of tyrants, and some revengers challenge the fundamental inequity of social class. Woodbridge demonstrates how, for all their sensationalism, their macabre comedy and outlandish gore, Renaissance revenge plays do some serious cultural work.

Picture books appeal to students of all readiness levels, interests, and learning styles. Featuring descriptions and activities for fifty exceptional titles, Mary Jo Fresch and Peggy Harkins offer a wealth of ideas for harnessing the power of picture books to improve reading and writing in the content areas. The authors provide a synopsis of each title along with discipline-specific and cross-curricular activities that illustrate how picture books can be used to supplement--and sometimes even replace--traditional textbooks. They also offer title suggestions that create a "text set" of supporting resources. By incorporating picture books into the classroom, teachers across the disciplines can introduce new topics into their curriculum, help students develop nonfiction literacy skills, provide authentic and meaningful cultural perspectives, and help meet a wide range of learning needs.
