Download or read book Market Structure and Equilibrium written by Heinrich von Stackelberg and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2010-11-10 with total page 147 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In his book „Marktform und Gleichgewicht“, published initially in 1934, Heinrich von Stackelberg presented his groundbreaking leadership model of firm competition. In a work of great originality and richness, he described and analyzed a market situation in which the leader firm moves first and the follower firms then move sequentially. This game-theoretic model, now widely known as Stackelberg competition, has had tremendous impact on the theory of the firm and economic analysis in general, and has been applied to study decision-making in various fields of business. As the first translation of von Stackelberg’s book into English, this volume makes his classic work available in its original form to an English-speaking audience for the very first time.

This book was released on 1986 with total page 588 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: These contributions discuss a number of important developments over the past decade in a newly established and important field of economics that have led to notable changes in views on governmental competition policies. They focus on the nature and role of competition and other determinants of market structures, such as numbers of firms and barriers to entry; other factors which determine the effective degree of competition in the market; the influence of major firms (especially when these pursue objectives other than profit maximization); and decentralization and coordination under control relationships other than markets and hierarchies.ContributorsJoseph E. Book Synopsis Competition Policy by : Massimo Motta
Download or read book Competition Policy written by Massimo Motta and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2004-01-12 with total page 650 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is the first book to provide a systematic treatment of the economics of antitrust (or competition policy) in a global context. It draws on the literature of industrial organisation and on original analyses to deal with such important issues as cartels, joint-ventures, mergers, vertical contracts, predatory pricing, exclusionary practices, and price discrimination, and to formulate policy implications on these issues. The interaction between theory and practice is one of the main features of the book, which contains frequent references to competition policy cases and a few fully developed case studies. The treatment is written to appeal to practitioners and students, to lawyers and economists. It is not only a textbook in economics for first year graduate or advanced undergraduate courses, but also a book for all those who wish to understand competition issues in a clear and rigorous way. Exercises and some solved problems are provided.

Book Synopsis Energy Management for the Emerging Megacity Hyderabad by : Kaushik Deb
Download or read book Energy Management for the Emerging Megacity Hyderabad written by Kaushik Deb and published by BoD – Books on Demand. This book was released on 2012 with total page 50 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The background study represents the first part of the deliverables of the Work Package 3.2. A for milestone one. It reflects the status of the power sector of Andhra Pradesh with specific consideration of Greater Hyderabad. Beside transport, electricity is the main application of energy sources in the areas of generation, transmission, generation and consumption. The study places particular attention, first, to the regulatory framework of the Andhra Pradesh power sector and the linkages to Hyderabad and, second, to the state of the sub-sectors. Based on this we identify sources for inefficient energy use and provide the basis for further analysis of consumption patterns of households and firms in the public and private sectors. The predominant problems of the power sector highlighted in the background study are huge supply gaps and growing peak deficits due to economic growth, insufficient incentives for energy saving investments and limited capacity expansions, because tariff structures fail to set price signals for energy saving measures and application of low emission technologies. The results of the background study indicate several reasons for inefficiencies and supply gaps arising from institutional, economic and technical issues, such as subsidies for irrigation and agriculture failing to set incentives for energy savings for farmers. The background study forms the basis for analysis of strategies to improve energy efficiency and to develop strategies and projects together with the stakeholder analysis in the entire energy sector.
