Mary Ann Bishop is a long time Bible teacher, recording artist and conference speaker. She is also a unique type of missionary. Because of her passion for missions and her heart for the lost, in 2000 she and her husband, David, founded White Harvest Trading Company and White Harvest Foundation, (www.whiteharvesttradingco.com) a ministry which seeks to bring hope to the unreached people of Southeast Asia. Presently David and Mary Ann are working in China, Vietnam and Laos by providing business platforms for missionaries who are targeting the various people groups in these areas. Ethnic products from these people groups are imported and sold in their very unique store located in Pawleys Island, South Carolina. David and Mary Ann are the parents of two grown children, Wesley and Elizabeth. They reside in Pawleys Island, South Carolina where Mary Ann teaches Community Bible Study. Bruce Chandler teaches art classes for both children and adults, paints commissions as well as local and historical landmarks for prints. Bruce also paints murals for residences, churches and businesses, the largest of which is 79 feet long and located in Douglas Airport, Charlotte, North Carolina. The highest paintings are located in numerous Super Wal-Mart stores, and the most humorous can be found in a Litchfield, SC beach house. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In nineteenth century Cisleithanian Austria, poor, working-class women underwent mass migrations from the countryside to urban centers for menial or unskilled labor jobs. Through legal provisions on women’s work in the Habsburg Empire, there was an increase in the policing and surveillance of what was previously a gender-neutral career, turning it into one dominated by thousands of female rural migrants. Servants of Culture provides an account of Habsburg servant law since the eighteenth century and uncovers the paternalistic and maternalistic assumptions and anxieties which turned the interest of socio-political players in improving poor living and working conditions into practices that created restrictive gender and class hierarchies. Through pioneering analysis of the agendas of medical experts, police, socialists, feminists, legal reformers, and even serial killers, this volume puts forth a neglected history of the state of domestic service discourse at the turn of the 19th century and how it shaped and continues to shape the surveillance of women.

In Practical Leadership, Dr. Tom Cannon will introduce you to the leadership style of Jesus Christ, and show you how to successfully emulate His ministry in your daily life. For those who believe servant-leadership is for wimps, be assured, you are absolutely wrong. Servant-leaders are world-changers. Men and women who stand strong amid any crisis, and through their words, actions, and attitude, reveal Christ to a hurting, confused, and often angry world. The world is perishing, they need you to help reveal the love, mercy, grace and kindness of Jesus Christ to them, in a real and personal way. How? Become a servant-leader of the King, and lead them like Jesus did. Are you up to the challenge? I hope so, because the future of our churches, communities, and nation are on the line.

This book was released on 2005-10-12 with total page 608 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Master and servant acts, the cornerstone of English employment law for more than four hundred years, gave largely unsupervised, inferior magistrates wide discretion over employment relations, including the power to whip, fine, and imprison men, women, and children for breach of private contracts with their employers. The English model was adopted, modified, and reinvented in more than a thousand colonial statutes and ordinances regulating the recruitment, retention, and discipline of workers in shops, mines, and factories; on farms, in forests, and on plantations; and at sea. This collection presents the first integrated comparative account of employment law, its enforcement, and its importance throughout the British Empire. Sweeping in its geographic and temporal scope, this volume tests the relationship between enacted law and enforced law in varied settings, with different social and racial structures, different economies, and different constitutional relationships to Britain. Investigations of the enforcement of master and servant law in England, the British Caribbean, India, Africa, Hong Kong, Canada, Australia, and colonial America shed new light on the nature of law and legal institutions, the role of inferior courts in compelling performance, and the definition of "free labor" within a multiracial empire. This book looks at the servant life in the Tudor period. It examines relations between servants and their masters, peering into the bedrooms, kitchens and parlours of the ordinary folk.

Book excerpt: 'Hugely enjoyable' - Kathryn Hughes, Guardian Glorious ... Full of eyebrow-raising and laughter-inducing vignettes' - Daily Telegraph Servants is the social history of the last century through the eyes of those who served. From the butler, the footman, the maid and the cook of 1900 to the au pairs, cleaners and childminders who took their place seventy years later, a previously unheard class offers a fresh perspective on a dramatic century. Here, the voices of servants and domestic staff are at last brought to life: their daily household routines, attitudes towards their employers, and to each other, throw into sharp and intimate relief the period of feverish social change through which they lived. Sweeping in its scope, extensively researched and brilliantly observed, Servants is an original and fascinating portrait of twentieth-century Britain; an authoritative history that will change and challenge the way we look at society.
