Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: When children write sentences they are learning not only phonics, spelling and punctuation, but also penmanship. When all subjects are integrated, penmanship is easy to neglect. Therefore, it is essential to set aside time for studying penmanship as a separate subject. This book may be used to reinforce the concept of achieving legible manuscript handwriting to first, second or third graders or to improve the handwriting of older students or adults. It includes a guided alphabet chart to reinforce proper letter formation. Blank sheets are included in the book's rear to provide additional handwriting practice, if needed. Paul Revere was an American silversmith, engraver, early industrialist, and Patriot in the American Revolution. He is best known for his midnight ride to alert the colonial militia in April 1775 to the approach of British forces before the battles of Lexington and Concord, as dramatized in Henry Wadsworth Longfellow's poem, "Paul Revere's Ride" (1861). This manuscript handwriting copybook contains the full "Paul Revere's Ride" poem by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow. The poem contains advanced level words which students may need help reading. A good strategy would be for the teacher to read the verse aloud before allowing the student to copy the verse. Trace to Write also provides instructive materials in beginning manuscript and beginning-advanced cursive handwriting and cursive copybooks that integrate classic literature and American History. Common Core State Standard: CCSS.ELA-Literacy.L.2.2.

Book Synopsis Sentence Copybook by : Macy McCullough

Book excerpt: This book provides extensive focus on printed English Alphabet formation. It isn't muddled with activities, instead focusing solely on letter formation. This penmanship workbook will help increase your student's ability to: -Print uppercase and lowercase letters of the alphabet and recognize the difference between the two. -Write from left to right and top to bottom of page. -Recognize spacing between letters and eventually words. -Understand the concept of writing letters. -Write words and brief sentences that are legible. Some neurologists advocate writing to learn. One states, "The practice of writing can enhance the brain's intake, processing, retaining, and retrieving of information. Through writing, students can increase their comfort with and success in understanding complex material, unfamiliar concepts, and subject-specific vocabulary." Since kindergarten students do not have to prepare for assessments, focus can instead be placed on their literacy development. Reading to children and talking to them directly can be huge. Parents can start conversations-helping to build verbal vocabulary, write a grocery list together-helping to practice handwriting skills, and select books together at the library-allowing students to enjoy the usefulness of the printed word. Another way to raise their awareness of language in their environment is to point on street signs, billboards, traffic signs, and menus in restaurants.
