Book Synopsis Environmental Impact Assessment by : A.G. Colombo
Download or read book Environmental Impact Assessment written by A.G. Colombo and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 354 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Joint Research Centre of the European Communities, and in particular the Institute for Systems Engineering and Informatics (ISEI) at Ispra, have weil established competences in risk analysis, uncertainty analysis and statistical data treatment. More recently, work on Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA), particularly on environmental indicators and indices and on a "system engineering approach" to EIA, has started. This approach attempts to move towards "unified" procedures to investigate normal operation and acciclental risks; these are problems concerned within both the EIA Directive 85/337/EEC and the "Seveso" Directive 821501/EEC. In May 1990, a Workshop on "Indicators and Indices for Environmentallmpact Assessment and Risk Analysis" was organized at the JRC, Ispra. The Proceedings of this Workshop (Report EUR 13060 EN, 1990) are a reference document in the fielet This book is based on the papers presented at the Eurocourse EIAl91 held at the JRC, Ispra in the Autumn of 1991. This was the first course on Environmentaiimpact Assessment given in the JRC's Eurocourse series at Ispra. It was a success because of both the high calibre of the lecturers and the weil informed and numerous participants. The work focuses on the broader aspects of EIA, namely: legislation, indicators and indices, approaches and techniques, economic and sociological implications.

Book Synopsis Hydrocarbon Control Strategies for Gasoline Marketing Operations by : R. L. Norton
Download or read book Hydrocarbon Control Strategies for Gasoline Marketing Operations written by R. L. Norton and published by . This book was released on 1977 with total page 140 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This informational document provides basic and current descriptions of gasoline marketing operations and methods that are available to control hydrocarbon emissions from these operations. The three types of facilities that are described are terminals, bulk plants, and service stations. Operational and business trends are also discussed. Emissions from typical facilities, including transport trucks, are estimated. The operations which lead to emissions from these facilities include (1) gasoline storage, (2) gasoline loading at terminal and bulk plants, (3) gasoline delivery to bulk plants and service stations, and (4) the refueling of vehicles at service stations. Available and possible methods for controlling emissions are described with their estimated control efficiencies and costs. The costs for control of a unit weight of hydrocarbon are calculated from these estimates. This report also includes a bibliograpy of references cited in the text, and supplementary sources of information.

Book Synopsis Chemical Reactor Technology for Environmentally Safe Reactors and Products by : Hugo de Lasa
Download or read book Chemical Reactor Technology for Environmentally Safe Reactors and Products written by Hugo de Lasa and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 648 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Chemical reactor engineering, as a discipline, has a central role to play in helping with the development of adequate strategies and technologies that can deal effectively with the concerns of today's society, which are increasingly becoming attuned to the environment. The current challenge is how to adapt present processes and products to meet more rigorous environmental standards. Chemical Reactor Technology for Environmentally Safe Reactors and Products addresses these issues in three parts: I -- Fuels of the Future and Changing Fuel Needs; II -- Alternative Sources; III -- Emission Control, Chemical Reactor Safety and Engineering. Attention is also paid, throughout the text, to the fundamental technological aspects of reactor engineering and to possible strategies for bridging knowledge gaps.
Book Synopsis Circulating Fluidized Bed Boilers by : Prabir Basu
