One focuses on how horses behave and learn (ethology) while the other addresses how they move (biomechanics). Understanding and establishing cross species communication is the basis for all the work in the first book. The second book covers the next step in schooling the horse, using lungeing to develop the horse’s physical strength and coordination so they can carry us around without injuring themselves. Integrating the over looked and truly remarkable findings from the last few decades of research into the biomechanics of the horse’s back and nervous system with the long-standing practice of lungeing develops the horse’s strength and coordination so they can carry a rider without damaging themselves. Circle walking exercises for humans helps them to understand and communicate with their horses. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: My first exposure to Muslims was in 2005 in Morocco. I enjoyed my visit and was surprised by the Berbers' hospitality. I was fascinated by the eagerness of Muslims to discuss God. While sharing personal stories was important, our conversations always concluded with talking about God. Discussions about our faiths was the foremost topic of my conversations with Muslims. Over the years, I have compared the teachings of Islam with the Christian Scriptures. I have found the narratives differing in detail and concepts conflicting in perspective. These theological differences confirm that Islam and Christianity do not worship the same God. For example, the Quran teaches that Allah commanded angels to bow down to Adam at creation. Satan refused, and Allah banished him to the earth (Qu.7:11-13). According to the Bible, Yhwh would never command angels to bow down to man, for only Yhwh is worthy of worship. For an angel to bow down to man is idolatry. I have observed many debates between Muslims and Christians. Muslim debaters seldom stay on the agreed topic. Instead, they divert from the subject to ridicule and debase Christianity as foolishness. I have found that while Muslims ask difficult questions of Christianity, they never ask the same questions of Islam. Islam and Christianity Contrasted will seek answers to those questions from the early Islamic sources and compare them with the teachings of the Bible. The Quran, early hadiths, Islamic history, and four established translations of the Bible will be consulted. I hope that through Islam and Christianity Contrasted, both Muslims and Christians will have a deeper understanding of one another’s faith.

Marshall, that "American military officers, of whatever service, should share common ground ethically and morally." In this new edition, the authors methodically explore that common ground, reflecting on the basics of the Profession of Arms, and the officer's special place and distinctive obligations within that profession and especially to the Constitution.

Introduction The Backbone of the Armed Forces To be a member of the United States Armed Forces--to wear the uniform of the Nation and the stripes, chevrons, or anchors of the military Services--is to continue a legacy of service, honor, and patriotism that transcends generations. Answering the call to serve is to join the long line of selfless patriots who make up the Profession of Arms. This profession does not belong solely to the United States. It stretches across borders and time to encompass a culture of service, expertise, and, in most cases, patriotism. Today, the Nation's young men and women voluntarily take an oath to support and defend the Constitution of the United States and fall into formation with other proud and determined individuals who have answered the call to defend freedom. This splendid legacy, forged in crisis and enriched during times of peace, is deeply rooted in a time-tested warrior ethos. It is inspired by the notion of contributing to something larger, deeper, and more profound than one's own self. Notice: This is a printed Paperback version of the "The Noncommissioned Officer and Petty Officer BACKBONE of the Armed Forces". Full version, All Chapters included. This publication is available (Electronic version) in the official website of the National Defense University (NDU). This document is properly formatted and printed as a perfect sized copy 6x9".

Book excerpt: A stunning work of narrative nonfiction, Carlisle vs. Army recounts the fateful 1912 gridiron clash that pitted one of America’s finest athletes, Jim Thorpe, against the man who would become one of the nation’s greatest heroes, Dwight D. Eisenhower. But beyond telling the tale of this momentous event, Lars Anderson also reveals the broader social and historical context of the match, lending it his unique perspectives on sports and culture at the dawn of the twentieth century. This story begins with the infamous massacre of the Sioux at Wounded Knee, in 1890, then moves to rural Pennsylvania and the Carlisle Indian School, an institution designed to “elevate” Indians by uprooting their youths and immersing them in the white man’s ways. Foremost among those ways was the burgeoning sport of football. In 1903 came the man who would mold the Carlisle Indians into a juggernaut: Glenn “Pop” Warner, the son of a former Union Army captain. Guided by Warner, a tireless innovator and skilled manager, the Carlisle eleven barnstormed the country, using superior team speed, disciplined play, and tactical mastery to humiliate such traditional powerhouses as Harvard, Yale, Michigan, and Wisconsin–and to, along the way, lay waste American prejudices against Indians. When a troubled young Sac and Fox Indian from Oklahoma named Jim Thorpe arrived at Carlisle, Warner sensed that he was in the presence of greatness. While still in his teens, Thorpe dazzled his opponents and gained fans across the nation. In 1912 the coach and the Carlisle team could feel the national championship within their grasp. Among the obstacles in Carlisle’s path to dominance were the Cadets of Army, led by a hardnosed Kansan back named Dwight Eisenhower. In Thorpe, Eisenhower saw a legitimate target; knocking the Carlisle great out of the game would bring glory both to the Cadets and to Eisenhower. The symbolism of this matchup was lost on neither Carlisle’s footballers nor on Indians across the country who followed their exploits. Less than a quarter century after Wounded Knee, the Indians would confront, on the playing field, an emblem of the very institution that had slaughtered their ancestors on the field of battle and, in defeating them, possibly regain a measure of lost honor. Filled with colorful period detail and fascinating insights into American history and popular culture, Carlisle vs. Army gives a thrilling, authoritative account of the events of an epic afternoon whose reverberations would be felt for generations. "Carlisle vs. Army is about football the way that The Natural is about baseball.” –Jeremy Schaap, author of I

Furthermore, it demonstrates how the historic themes addressed disapproving public reaction, Mexican governmental instability, and insufficient US military personnel to effectively secure the expansive boundary are still prevalent today.

It provides readings that outline the theoretical approach to conducting deep operations in order to prevail and win. The US Army may be well served to look at how operations were done in the past in order to gain insight into not only what an adversary is doing, but why they are doing operations in a certain way"--
