Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Have you ever despaired about the state of the world? In this book I invite you to accompany me on my personal journey to understand the human condition and to find some remedy to the debacle we have made of being the premier species. Each chapter begins with an event in my life. One's life can be seen as an allegory, each incident becoming a stimulus for discovering a deeper implication underlying it. My experience at Dacchau for instance led me to conclude that our planet at Tipping Point indicates the distance of mankind from his Soul. Mankind's history of cruelty, discrimination, exploitation and hunger for power is the result of a presiding level of consciousness which holds behaviour within the bounds of lower energies such as greed, hatred, prejudice, delusion, and fear. Dominance and control, based on the false premise of our entitlement and superiority, is unacceptable, unjustifiable and unsustainable for our fragile planet. My quest has led me to see that the world's current problem is fundamentally a spiritual one created by the limited perspective of human beings - a loss of a sense of tolerance toward one another, a loss of cooperation and community, and most deeply a loss of connection to our moral, ethical and spiritual values. A Turning Point will occur when we attune to heart frequencies which circumvent the destructive impulses of the lower energies and attune with the more compassionate, inter-relating higher frequencies. The heart moves us from a controller mentality toward one conscious of the collective whole in an interconnected world. My experiences with animals and nature led me to conclude that the heart's higher level of consciousness brings a oneness with life, a recognition of animals as sentient, sensitive beings and a forest as a giver of life. By embodying the higher heart frequencies we transform ourselves into caretakers rather than exploiters of the earth and all its inhabitants. We have it within our power to turn a Tipping point into a Turning point in the evolution of our planet.

Book excerpt: Do we need to be free to be innovative, prosperous, or even happy? The lessons of the last five centuries were unequivocal--without freedom, there could be no prosperity or happiness. However, does this still hold true in the Information Age? Modern technologies are disrupting our societies, altering every facet of our lives, from the nature of work and what we intrinsically value, to how we are informed, entertained, and educated--it promises to be a far deeper disruption than Industrial Revolutions. Humanity is at a major turning point, and how we respond to the merger of technology and financialization will decide our future. Will it be capitalism or communism, feudalism or despotism? By learning from the past and projecting into the future, global market strategist Viktor Shvets explores the weakening nexus between freedom and prosperity and what that means for the future of humanity. From the birth of our modern world, pivotal events in human history have led to the collapse of non-Western civilizations--Mongol warriors sweeping across Eurasian steppes; the Black Death and a re-awakening of human spirit; Zheng He's voyages and the collapse of Novgorod republic; and finally, the ban on printing in Arabic. What can we learn from these events to better prepare ourselves for the future? As we hurtle toward that uncertain future, we must decide whether our cherished individual freedoms are still necessary for success and prosperity, or if in adapting to new technologies, non-Western civilizations are now better positioned for this new world, creating illiberal orders that might no longer suffer from stagnation of ideas. For the first time in at least five centuries, we have an opportunity and tools to build a different society and economy. Will we embrace the challenge?

Book excerpt: In the blink of an eye. Everyone disappears. GONE. Except for the young. Teens. Middle schoolers. Toddlers. But not one single adult. No teachers, no cops, no doctors, no parents. Just as suddenly, there are no phones, no internet, no television. No way to get help. And no way to figure out what's happened. Hunger threatens. Bullies rule. A sinister creature lurks. Animals are mutating. And the teens themselves are changing, developing new talents—unimaginable, dangerous, deadly powers—that grow stronger by the day. It's a terrifying new world. Sides are being chosen, a fight is shaping up. Townies against rich kids. Bullies against the weak. Powerful against powerless. And time is running out: On your birthday, you disappear just like everyone else...

Book excerpt: In these years of constant growth and further development for our company, research and development has become more and more important, and has allowed us to be at the forefront in our business sector, where innovation is the obvious and decisive factor. It has therefore been consistent with our everyday business philosophy to involve ourselves deeply in writing and printing this handbook, which is designed to recognize the capacity and hard work of all employees working successfully in the Bonfiglioli Group. The book is intended to be a concrete contribution by Bonfiglioli Riduttori S.p.A. to the development and application of power transmissions. The book is addressed to all who have technical dealings with power transmissions, from university students to engineers active in the workplace. For this reason we have invited the cooperation of four prestigious professionals - Darle W. Dudley, Jacques Sprengers, Dierk SchrOder, and Hajime Yamashina - in the knowledge that only through the cooperation of the leading specialists in the field of power transmissions could we develop a truly useful and helpful handbook. It has been hard work, but we are sure the reader's appreciation will amply reward our efforts.
