Book Synopsis Management of Stem Rot Disease of Groundnut by : Kalubhai Rakholiya
Download or read book Management of Stem Rot Disease of Groundnut written by Kalubhai Rakholiya and published by LAP Lambert Academic Publishing. This book was released on 2012 with total page 184 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Stem and pod rot of groundnut caused by Sclerotium rolfsii is an economically important disease of groundnut. Looking to the high disease incidence in Kharif season and economic damage due to stem and pod rot some basic and applied research studies were carried out. Symptoms expressed yellowing and wilting of branches. Under high humidity and moist soil surface this fungus produced white mycelium around affected plants at or near the soil surface. Abandant sclerotia were produced on the mycelial mat on the affected plant parts adjacent to soil surface. The affected branches or whole plant died. Peg and pods were also affected and seeds of severely affected pods were discolored. An experiment on integrated management of stem and pod rot of groundnut was conducted under field condition. Highest pod yield and minimum disease incidence was recorded in preemergence spraying of fluchloraline + seed treatment with vitavax power + furrow application of T. harzianum mixed in FYM at sowing time + three sprayings of hexaconazole at 35, 55 and 75 days after sowing.

Book Synopsis Sustainable Management of Arthropod Pests of Tomato by : Waqas Wakil
Download or read book Sustainable Management of Arthropod Pests of Tomato written by Waqas Wakil and published by Academic Press. This book was released on 2017-11-19 with total page 374 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Sustainable Management of Arthropod Pests of Tomato provides insight into the proper and appropriate application of pesticides and the integration of alternative pest management methods. The basis of good crop management decisions is a better understanding of the crop ecosystem, including the pests, their natural enemies, and the crop itself. This book provides a global overview of the biology and management of key arthropod pests of tomatoes, including arthropod-vectored diseases. It includes information that places tomatoes in terms of global food production and food security, with each pest chapter including the predators and parasitoids that have specifically been found to have the greatest impact on reducing that particular pest. In-depth coverage of the development of resistance in tomato plants and the biotic and abiotic elicitors of resistance and detailed information about the sustainable management of tomato pests is also presented. Provides basic biological and management information for arthropod pests of tomato from a global perspective, encompassing all production types (field, protected, organic) Includes chapters on integrated management of tomato pests and specific aspects of tomato pest management, including within protected structures and in organic production Presents management systems that have been tested in the real-world by the authors of each chapter Fully illustrated throughout with line drawings and color plates that illustrate key pest and beneficial arthropods associated with tomato production around the world
Book Synopsis Biotic Stress Management in Tomato by : Shashank Shekhar Solankey
Download or read book Biotic Stress Management in Tomato written by Shashank Shekhar Solankey and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2021-11-11 with total page 322 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This valuable volume highlights biotechnological tools and their utilization for biotic stress management in the tomato plant, one of the world’s most important vegetable crops consumed by us in our daily diet and which is vulnerable to over 200 diseases as well as the impact of global climate change. The chapters cover the major diseases of tomato along with practical biotic stress management strategies through biotechnological and molecular approaches. The focus is on molecular tools that can be used to prevent or mitigate damage from such diseases as bacterial wilt, bacterial canker, damping off seedlings, late blight, early blight, fusarium wilt, septorial leaf spot, cercospora leaf spot, verticilium wilt, tomato leaf curl virus, tobacco mosaic virus, tomato spotted wilt virus, root knot nematode, fruit borer, and sucking pests. Gene stacking/pyramiding and postharvest management strategies are also systematically discussed. This book provides an up-to-date and comprehensive review that will be a greatly useful resource, containing basic facts and information on the new and recent discoveries for biotic stresses management of tomatoes.

Book Synopsis Rhizosphere Microbes by : Sushil Kumar Sharma
Download or read book Rhizosphere Microbes written by Sushil Kumar Sharma and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2021-01-20 with total page 689 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Plants create a dynamic micro-biosphere in the soil, around the roots, called as ‘rhizosphere’, which harbors diverse number of microorganisms for sustaining their growth and development. A soil with diverse and multi-traits microbial communities is considered healthy to enhance crop productivity. In the last decades, rhizosphere biology has gained attention due to unraveling of new mechanisms, processes and molecules in the rhizosphere that contributes towards the promotion of plant productivity. The rhizospheric microbes and associated processes are being utilized for harnessing potential of soils in effective and sustainable functioning in the agro-ecosystems. Broadly, the book discusses rhizospheric microbes and their role in modulating functions of soil and crop plant. Specifically, it highlights conventional and modern aspects of rhizosphere microbes such as – microbiome in the rhizosphere, microbes as an indicator and promoter of soil health, rhizosphere microbes as biofertilizer, biostimulator and biofortifyer, microbial signaling in the rhizosphere, recent tools in deciphering rhizobiome, and regulatory mechanisms for commercialization of biofertilizer, biopesticide and biostimulator. The book is useful for agriculture scientist, biotechnologist, plant pathologist, mycologist, and microbiologist, farming community, scientist of R&D organization, as well as teaching community, researcher and student and policy maker.
