Book Synopsis Making Creativity Practical: Innovation That Gets Results by : Stan Gryskiewicz
Download or read book Making Creativity Practical: Innovation That Gets Results written by Stan Gryskiewicz and published by Center for Creative Leadership. This book was released on 2003-03-01 with total page 31 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Creative solutions can be challenged and defended in the pursuit of profitability. But first, creativity must be demystified. A process that targets innovation provides leaders with just such a problem-solving approach. The goal is to produce high-quality ideas that are appropriate to the task - which means groups and organizations can implement them with less risk. Work with the targeted innovation process consists of activities in five areas: stating the problem in a way that encourages creative problem solving, learning and understanding different problem-solving styles, learning and understanding creative pathways and their relationship to problem solving, generating ideas, and evaluating those ideas. Targeted innovation reconciles creativity with management. Managers can use it to solve problems that meet their organization's call for innovative answers to current challenges.

Book Synopsis Monetizing Innovation by : Madhavan Ramanujam
Download or read book Monetizing Innovation written by Madhavan Ramanujam and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2016-05-02 with total page 263 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Surprising rules for successful monetization Innovation is the most important driver of growth. Today, more than ever, companies need to innovate to survive. But successful innovation—measured in dollars and cents—is a very hard target to hit. Companies obsess over being creative and innovative and spend significant time and expense in designing and building products, yet struggle to monetize them: 72% of innovations fail to meet their financial targets—or fail entirely. Many companies have come to accept that a high failure rate, and the billions of dollars lost annually, is just the cost of doing business. Monetizing Innovations argues that this is tragic, wasteful, and wrong. Radically improving the odds that your innovation will succeed is just a matter of removing the guesswork. That happens when you put customer demand and willingness to pay in the driver seat—when you design the product around the price. It’s a new paradigm, and that opens the door to true game change: You can stop hoping to monetize, and start knowing that you will. The authors at Simon Kucher know what they’re talking about. As the world’s premier pricing and monetization consulting services company, with 800 professionals in 30 cities around the globe, they have helped clients ranging from massive pharmaceuticals to fast-growing startups find success. In Monetizing Innovation, they distil the lessons of thirty years and over 10,000 projects into a practical, nine-step approach. Whether you are a CEO, executive leadership, or part of the team responsible for innovation and new product development, this book is for you, with special sections and checklist-driven summaries to make monetizing innovation part of your company’s DNA. Illustrative case studies show how some of the world’s best innovative companies like LinkedIn, Uber, Porsche, Optimizely, Draeger, Swarovski and big pharmaceutical companies have used principles outlined in this book. A direct challenge to the status quo “spray and pray” style of innovation, Monetizing Innovation presents a practical approach that can be adopted by any organization, in any industry. Most monetizing innovation failure point home. Now more than ever, companies must rethink the practices that have lost countless billions of dollars. Monetizing Innovation presents a new way forward, and a clear promise: Go from hope to certainty.

Book Synopsis Innovation + Equality by : Joshua Gans
Download or read book Innovation + Equality written by Joshua Gans and published by MIT Press. This book was released on 2019-10-29 with total page 187 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: How to get more innovation and more equality. Is economic inequality the price we pay for innovation? The amazing technological advances of the last two decades—in such areas as artificial intelligence, genetics, and materials—have benefited society collectively and rewarded innovators handsomely: we get cool smartphones and technology moguls become billionaires. This contributes to a growing wealth gap; in the United States; the wealth controlled by the top 0.1 percent of households equals that of the bottom ninety percent. Is this the inevitable cost of an innovation-driven economy? Economist Joshua Gans and policy maker Andrew Leigh make the case that pursuing innovation does not mean giving up on equality—precisely the opposite. In this book, they outline ways that society can become both more entrepreneurial and more egalitarian. All innovation entails uncertainty; there's no way to predict which new technologies will catch on. Therefore, Gans and Leigh argue, rather than betting on the future of particular professions, we should consider policies that embrace uncertainty and protect people from unfavorable outcomes. To this end, they suggest policies that promote both innovation and equality. If we encourage innovation in the right way, our future can look more like the cheerful techno-utopia of Star Trek than the dark techno-dystopia of The Terminator.
Book Synopsis Reinventing Innovation by : Aaron C. T. Smith
Download or read book Reinventing Innovation written by Aaron C. T. Smith and published by Springer. This book was released on 2017-05-31 with total page 138 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Based on research findings and detailed, original cases, this book charts the new innovation imperative, where organizations must deliver on dual goals: an efficient return on current operations, and a burgeoning pipeline of new products. It argues that the two pursuits cannot be achieved through a bland compromise, or by switching priorities back and forth. Only a ‘dual’ organization capable of amplifying the tension can optimize efficiency while seeding innovation. Reinventing Innovation examines the nature of dual organizing, presents a series of in-depth cases to reveal its principles, and explains how to fortify organizations with ‘ambidexterity’ capabilities. Ideal for tertiary students, academics, and practitioners, Reinventing Innovation contains a rich balance of theoretical principles, case insights, and practical guidance.

This book was released on 2020-04-28 with total page 96 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Master's Thesis from the year 2019 in the subject Computer Sciences - Cryptocurrency, grade: 2.7, , course: INNOVATION AND TECHNOLOGY MANAGEMENT, language: English, abstract: Is the consumer willing to adopt the innovative, blockchain based cryptocurrency Bitcoin as a payment method? The aim of this work is to assess the European consumer’s intention to use Bitcoin for payments. Bitcoin is not yet defined in many ways. The Role of the consumer is important as consumers play a significant role in technology adoption. In this work, Bitcoin is investigated from the consumer’s perspective as an available innovative payment method. A literature reviewed allowed characterizing Bitcoin and to outline factors that have an effect on the consumer’s intention to adopt this innovative technology for payments. These factors, compatibility (as in Innovation Diffusion Theory) and perceived risk, were integrated with a theoretical research model (Technology Acceptance Model) and its constructs perceived ease of use, perceived usefulness and behavioral intention, in order to predict the consumer’s intention to use Bitcoin for payments. The proposed model was empirically tested using data collected from a survey of European consumers. The Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) technique was used to evaluate this research model and a Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) was performed to test the reliability and validity of the proposed measurement model.

Book Synopsis Creating Innovation Leaders by : Banny Banerjee
Download or read book Creating Innovation Leaders written by Banny Banerjee and published by Springer. This book was released on 2015-12-01 with total page 282 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book focuses on the process of creating and educating innovation leaders through specialized programs, which are offered by leading academic schools. Accordingly, the book is divided into two parts. While the first part provides the theoretical foundations of why and how innovation leaders should be created, the second part presents evidence that these foundations can already be found in the programs of ten top-level universities. Part one consists of six chapters following a rigorous plan of content development, addressing topics ranging from (1) innovation, to (2) the settings where innovation occurs, (3) innovation leadership, (4) the need to change education, (5) a taxonomy of advanced educational experiences, and (6) cases of positive vs negative innovation leadership in the context of complex problems. Here the authors show that a new kind of innovation leadership is urgently needed, how it can be created, and how it is put into action. The second part is a collection of invited chapters that describe in detail ten leading academic programs: their objectives, curricular organization, enrollment procedures, and impact on students. Selected programs include four North American institutions (Stanford’s d.school, Harvard’s Multidisciplinary Engineering Faculty, Philadelphia University, OCAD’s Master of Design on Strategic Foresight & Innovation), five European institutions (Alta Scuola Politecnica of Milano and Torino, the EIT Master Program, Paris’ d.school, Brighton’s Interdisciplinary Design Program, Aalto University) and the Mission D program at Tongji University in China. The book is dedicated to all those who recognize the need to provide stimuli regarding innovation and innovation leadership, primarily but not exclusively in academia. These include, but are not limited to, professors, deans and provosts of academic institutions, managers at private organizations and government policy-makers – in short, anyone who is engaged in promoting innovation within their own organization, and who feels the need to expand the intellectual and practical toolbox they use in this demanding and exciting endeavor.
