Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is now in use worldwide, while hypnosis as a technique continues to attract serious interest from the professional community. Integrating the two, the field of cognitive hypnotherapy uses the natural trance states of clients to unlock unconscious thoughts and memory patterns that can generate and sustain problems. Cognitive hypnotherapists work within the client’s model of the world, so that changes are more likely to be subconsciously accepted and become permanent. This practical guide shows how cognitive hypnotherapy can be used to treat a range of emotional disorders including depression, sleep disorders, anxiety, eating disorders and PTSD.
Book Synopsis Homo Symbolicus by : Christopher S. Henshilwood
Download or read book Homo Symbolicus written by Christopher S. Henshilwood and published by John Benjamins Publishing. This book was released on 2011-11-16 with total page 251 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The emergence of symbolic culture, classically identified with the European cave paintings of the Ice Age, is now seen, in the light of recent groundbreaking discoveries, as a complex nonlinear process taking root in a remote past and in different regions of the planet. In this book the archaeologists responsible for some of these new discoveries, flanked by ethologists interested in primate cognition and cultural transmission, evolutionary psychologists modelling the emergence of metarepresentations, as well as biologists, philosophers, neuro-scientists and an astronomer combine their research findings. Their results call into question our very conception of human nature and animal behaviour, and they create epistemological bridges between disciplines that build the foundations for a novel vision of our lineage's cultural trajectory and the processes that have led to the emergence of human societies as we know them.
Book Synopsis Geriatric Emergency Medicine by : Christian Nickel
Download or read book Geriatric Emergency Medicine written by Christian Nickel and published by Springer. This book was released on 2017-12-11 with total page 398 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book discusses all important aspects of emergency medicine in older people, identifying the particular care needs of this population, which all too often remain unmet. The up-to-date and in-depth coverage will assist emergency physicians in identifying patients at risk for adverse outcomes, in conducting appropriate assessment, and in providing timely and adequate care. Particular attention is paid to the commonpitfalls in emergency management andmeans of avoiding them. Between 1980 and 2013, the number of older patients in emergency departmentsworldwide doubled. Compared with younger patients, older people suffer from more comorbidities, a higher mortality rate, require more complex assessment and diagnostic testing, and tend to stay longer in the emergency department. This book, written by internationally recognized experts in emergency medicine and geriatrics, not only presents the state of the art in the care of this population but also underlines the increasing need for adequate training and development in the field.

Book Synopsis Current Thinking and Research in Brief Therapy by : William Matthews
Download or read book Current Thinking and Research in Brief Therapy written by William Matthews and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2013-06-20 with total page 281 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In Volume 2 of Current Thinking and Research in BriefTherapy the author's consideration of Ericksonian-influenced brief therapy continues. Presently, there is a concern among those in the psychotherapy profession who worry that this area of science will become heartless. Others are equally concerned that their hearts not become science-less in the future. In this volume, the authors respect both viewpoints and attempt to weave these notions together. Throughout this book, different types of emotions in psychotherapy unfold. For instance, Harry Aponte presents a thoughtful piece on the issue of client-therapy intimacy, while Doug Flemons and Shelley Green, a married couple, share a humorous yet sensitive article on sexual concerns in couples, and finally, Daniel Handel provides a powerful story of the use of hypnosis with a dying adolescent. In addition to the emotional side of psychotherapy, the authors include the scientific aspects of psychotherapy. A discussion about various models of brief therapy is given, emphasizing that the therapeutic effects of the treatment models are attributable to "the non-treatment specifics" of the therapeutic interaction. A review of empirical data on the key elements of Ericksonian hypnosis and the social-psychological aspect of Ericksonian hypnosis are discussed as well. Finally, an important, and perhaps controversial, essay on ethics in the general non-therapeutic use of hypnosis by lawyers and its use in recovering memories is presented.
