This book was released on 2011-06-22 with total page 178 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The aim of this research is to develop a systematic scheme that makes it possible to transform important parts of the by now classical theory of summation of general orthonormal series into a similar theory for series in noncommutative $L_p$-spaces constructed over a noncommutative measure space (a von Neumann algebra of operators acting on a Hilbert space together with a faithful normal state on this algebra).
Book Synopsis Interactions of Liquid Propellant/LP XM46 with Soils by :
Download or read book Interactions of Liquid Propellant/LP XM46 with Soils written by and published by . This book was released on 1994 with total page 154 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Development of an effective spill response plan for liquid propellant/LP XM46 (LP) required an understanding of the potential interactions between soil and the propellant. Studies were designed to characterize potential hazards of initial contact of LP with soil, runoff, infiltration, transport and sorption rates of spilled LP, and effects of LP on soil microflora. An analytical method for determining LP components in soils and water was also developed. Initial contact of LP with soil resulted in LP decomposition which was often visible, but not violent. No noxious gases were detected. Soil pH dropped and nitrate/nitrite-nitrogen increased significantly. Runoff and infiltration rates of LP in soils approximated those of water. Contact with LP mimicked the effects of 1.0N nitric acid on soil microflora; the soil was sterilized within 1 hour of contact. Two of the greatest potential environmental hazards of LP spills are low soil pH and leaching of nitrate to groundwater. Analytical methods, Soil microbiology, Liquid propellant, Soil sorption.

Book Synopsis Function Theory and ℓp Spaces by : Raymond Cheng
Download or read book Function Theory and ℓp Spaces written by Raymond Cheng and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 2020-05-28 with total page 219 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The classical ℓp sequence spaces have been a mainstay in Banach spaces. This book reviews some of the foundational results in this area (the basic inequalities, duality, convexity, geometry) as well as connects them to the function theory (boundary growth conditions, zero sets, extremal functions, multipliers, operator theory) of the associated spaces ℓpA of analytic functions whose Taylor coefficients belong to ℓp. Relations between the Banach space ℓp and its associated function space are uncovered using tools from Banach space geometry, including Birkhoff-James orthogonality and the resulting Pythagorean inequalities. The authors survey the literature on all of this material, including a discussion of the multipliers of ℓpA and a discussion of the Wiener algebra ℓ1A. Except for some basic measure theory, functional analysis, and complex analysis, which the reader is expected to know, the material in this book is self-contained and detailed proofs of nearly all the results are given. Each chapter concludes with some end notes that give proper references, historical background, and avenues for further exploration.
Book Synopsis New Classes of Lp-Spaces by : J. Bourgain
Download or read book New Classes of Lp-Spaces written by J. Bourgain and published by Springer. This book was released on 2006-11-14 with total page 147 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The purpose of this text is to present new examples of LP-spaces for 1 ≤ P ≤ ∞. This work has three reasons of interest. First, of course, it provides new LPspaces. Secondly, because certain constructions are based on new ideas and techniques with possibly other applications. Finally, especially in chapters four and five, crucial use is made of certain probabilistic results which have an independent importance.

Book excerpt: LP Gas is an excellent, environment-friendly fuel with tens of millions of satisfied consumers in every part of the world. As with all forms of energy, LP Gas is potentially hazardous if mishandled or misused. The guidelines within this publication are intended for policy-makers, government officials and industry managers at international, national and local levels who are concerned with good safety practice in relation to LP Gas handling, distribution and use. They follow the LP Gas distribution chain up to and including the point of use. Hazards are identified at each stage of the process and good safety practices are outlined. Also included are references for more detailed technical guidance.
Book Synopsis Elliptic Boundary Value Problems and Construction of Lp-Strong Feller Processes with Singular Drift and Reflection by : Benedict Baur
Download or read book Elliptic Boundary Value Problems and Construction of Lp-Strong Feller Processes with Singular Drift and Reflection written by Benedict Baur and published by Springer Science & Business. This book was released on 2014-04-25 with total page 203 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Benedict Baur presents modern functional analytic methods for construction and analysis of Feller processes in general and diffusion processes in particular. Topics covered are: Construction of Lp-strong Feller processes using Dirichlet form methods, regularity for solutions of elliptic boundary value problems, construction of elliptic diffusions with singular drift and reflection, Skorokhod decomposition and applications to Mathematical Physics like finite particle systems with singular interaction. Emphasize is placed on the handling of singular drift coefficients, as well as on the discussion of point wise and path wise properties of the constructed processes rather than just the quasi-everywhere properties commonly known from the general Dirichlet form theory.

Book Synopsis Lp-Theory for Incompressible Newtonian Flows by : Matthias Köhne
Download or read book Lp-Theory for Incompressible Newtonian Flows written by Matthias Köhne and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 185 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This thesis is devoted to the study of the basic equations of fluid dynamics. First Matthias Köhne focuses on the derivation of a class of boundary conditions, which is based on energy estimates, and, thus, leads to physically relevant conditions. The derived class thereby contains many prominent artificial boundary conditions, which have proved to be suitable for direct numerical simulations involving artificial boundaries. The second part is devoted to the development of a complete Lp-theory for the resulting initial boundary value problems in bounded smooth domains, i.e. the Navier-Stokes equations complemented by one of the derived energy preserving boundary conditions. Finally, the third part of this thesis focuses on the corresponding theory for bounded, non-smooth domains, where the boundary of the domain is allowed to contain a finite number of edges, provided the smooth components of the boundary that meet at such an edge are locally orthogonal.

Book Synopsis Strong Lp-Solutions for Fluid-Rigid Body Interaction Problems by : Karoline Götze
Download or read book Strong Lp-Solutions for Fluid-Rigid Body Interaction Problems written by Karoline Götze and published by Logos Verlag Berlin GmbH. This book was released on 2010 with total page 106 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We consider the initial boundary value problem for the movement of a rigid body in a viscous incompressible fluid. It is shown that, locally in time, a unique strong solution exists. This result has been known in the case of Newtonian fluids, in Hilbert spaces. Here, Banach space techniques are used to relax the conditions on the data and to extend the result to generalized Newtonian models. The proof rests on a suitable choice of coordinates, on maximal regularity estimates for the linearized fluid systems and on a suitable decomposition of the forces which determine the coupling of rigid and fluid parts. It works similarly in two and in three space dimensions, for exterior and for bounded fluid domains.
Book Synopsis Lp-Theory of Cylindrical Boundary Value Problems by : Tobias Nau
Download or read book Lp-Theory of Cylindrical Boundary Value Problems written by Tobias Nau and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-06-18 with total page 191 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Tobias Nau addresses initial boundary value problems in cylindrical space domains with the aid of modern techniques from functional analysis and operator theory. In particular, the author uses concepts from Fourier analysis of functions with values in Banach spaces and the operator-valued functional calculus of sectorial operators. He applies abstract results to concrete problems in cylindrical space domains such as the heat equation subject to numerous boundary conditions and equations arising from fluid dynamics.
