Nuestro escritor lebaniego es el promotor del culto a Santiago en el naciente Reino de Asturias, y el primero que considera al Apóstol patrono de España. A Beato se atribuye también la composición del bello "Himno a Santiago", que figurará, a partir de entonces, en la liturgia mozárabe del día de su fiesta.
