En Chile, el Estado ha tenido que proveer de medios institucionales para el reconocimiento, adaptación y la aceptación de los sectores excluidos además desarrollar políticas diferenciadas para satisfacer necesidades particulares de los diversos grupos sociales, la población Adulta Mayor a dado pie a la institucionalización de una política dirigida especialmente a ella, la cual en la medida que pasa el tiempo ha ido mejorando su cobertura y fundamentalmente ha ido, Incipientemente, reconociendo los derechos fundamentales de las personas de la tercera edad, registrando dea poco su calidad de ciudadanos. Se revisaron los programas aplicados y un análisis de cómo estos de cierta forma han dado paso a un mejoramiento y reconocimiento del estatus de los Adultos Mayores como sujetos de derecho, los cuales, a pesar de todos los esfuerzos, aun revelan que queda mucho por hacer para lograr mejores mecanismos de inclusión yespecialmente una adaptación cultural de la sociedad al nuevo escenario social que se presenta como consecuencia del envejecimiento de la población.
