Download or read book VARIABILITE MILLENAIRE DU CLIMAT ET DE L'HYDROLOGIE DE L'OCEAN ATLANTIQUE NORD LORS DE LA DERNIERE PERIODE GLACIAIRE (60 000-10 000 ANS) written by MARY.. ELLIOT and published by . This book was released on 1999 with total page 222 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: LES ARCHIVES SEDIMENTAIRES ET GLACIAIRES DE LA DERNIERE GLACIATION REVELENT L'EXISTENCE D'UNE VARIABILITE CLIMATIQUE RAPIDE, AVEC DES FREQUENCES MILLENAIRES. CELLE-CI SE CARACTERISE PAR DES PERIODES D'AUGMENTATION DU FLUX D'ICEBERGS DEPUIS LES CALOTTES DE GLACE CONTINENTALES VERS L'OCEAN ATLANTIQUE NORD, CAPABLES DE PERTURBER LA SALINITE DES EAUX DE SURFACE. PENDANT LA MEME PERIODE DE FORTES OSCILLATIONS DE LA TEMPERATURE ATMOSPHERIQUE SONT ENREGISTREES DANS LES CAROTTES DE GLACE DU GROENLAND : LES EVENEMENTS DE DANSGAARD OESCHGER. CE TRAVAIL PORTE SUR L'ETUDE DETAILLEE DES PERIODES DE DEBACLES GLACIAIRES MILLENAIRES AFIN D'ESTIMER L'ORIGINE DES ICEBERGS, LE SYNCHRONISME DES EVENEMENTS, LEUR IMPACT SUR L'HYDROLOGIE DES EAUX DE SURFACE ET SUR LA CIRCULATION PROFONDE DE L'ATLANTIQUE NORD. POUR CELA NOUS AVONS ANALYSE ET COMPARE DANS DES CAROTTES DE SEDIMENT MARIN, LES VARIATIONS DES FRACTIONS DETRITIQUES ET BIOGENES UTILISES COMME TRACEURS DE L'ORIGINE DES ICEBERGS, DES CHANGEMENTS DE LA SALINITE ET DE LA TEMPERATURES DES EAUX DE SURFACE ET DE LA CIRCULATION PROFONDE. AUX INSTABILITES MILLENAIRES DES BORDURES MARINES DES CALOTTES DE GLACE AUTOUR DE LA MER DE NORVEGE SE SUPERPOSENT, TOUS LES 5 A 7 000 ANS, LES DEBACLES D'ICEBERGS DEPUIS LA CALOTTE LAURENTIDE LORS DES EVENEMENTS DE HEINRICH. DE FORTES DIMINUTIONS DE LA SALINITE DES EAUX DE SURFACE EN MER DE NORVEGE ET EN ATLANTIQUE NORD, CAPABLES DE REDUIRE LA FORMATION DES EAUX PROFONDES, SONT ASSOCIEES A CES EVENEMENTS. CETTE ETUDE MONTRE QU'IL EXISTE DEUX SYSTEMES DE DEBACLES GLACIAIRES QUI SE DISTINGUENT PAR L'ORIGINE DES ICEBERGS ET L'IMPACT SUR L'HYDROLOGIE DES EAUX DE SURFACE ET LA CIRCULATION PROFONDE. LES MECANISMES DE CHANGEMENTS CLIMATIQUES MILLENAIRES SEMBLENT SURTOUT LIES AUX INSTABILITES DES CALOTTES DE GLACE BORDANT LA MER DE NORVEGE.
Book Synopsis Carbon Cycling in the Glacial Ocean: Constraints on the Ocean’s Role in Global Change by : Rainer Zahn
Download or read book Carbon Cycling in the Glacial Ocean: Constraints on the Ocean’s Role in Global Change written by Rainer Zahn and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-06-29 with total page 579 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A comprehensive progress report on the multi-disciplinary field of ocean and climate change research is given. It compiles introductory background papers and leading scientific results on the ocean-atmosphere carbon cycle with emphasis on the ocean's carbon inventory and the various components involved. The relationship between plankton productivity, carbon fixation, oceanic PCO2 and climate change is investigated from the viewpoint of long-term climatic change during the late Quaternary cycles of ice ages and warm ages. The various approaches range from micropaleontology over organic and trace element geochemistry to molecular isotope geochemistry.

Book Synopsis Global Changes in the Perspective of the Past by : J. A. Eddy
Download or read book Global Changes in the Perspective of the Past written by J. A. Eddy and published by . This book was released on 1993-10-19 with total page 410 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Global Changes in the Perspective of the Past Edited by J. A. Eddy and H. Oeschger To identify the marks of humans on the planet we must know the natural background on which they were imposed. To determine their importance we need to know the range of variability of the natural system. To be able to predict the ultimate impact of human intervention on the Earth system it is necessary to understand how the system works, including the chemical interactions that link the living and nonliving parts. Such answers will come, in part if not completely, from what is known of past changes on the Earth, derived from the history and written records held in natural archives, e.g. tree rings, ice, ocean and lake sediments, coral deposits, and in the strata of soils and rock. On this basis, leading experts from the broad spectrum of science met in Berlin to discuss the use of paleoclimatic data for analyzing climatic processes and for modeling the future evolution of climate. It is hoped that this volume, which contains the background papers and summary group reports of the workshop, will illuminate some of the burning questions yet unanswered in the field of paleostudies and accelerate the pace of progress in this field. It should be of interest to climatologists, atmospheric scientists, biogeochemists, oceanographers, ecologists, glaciologists, and numerical modelers. Goal of this Dahlem Workshop: to discuss the use of paleoclimatic data for analyzing climatic processes and for modeling the future evolution of the climate.
Book Synopsis MODELISATION 3D DE L'ECOULEMENT DE CALOTTES GLACIAIRES by : ADELINE.. FABRE
Download or read book MODELISATION 3D DE L'ECOULEMENT DE CALOTTES GLACIAIRES written by ADELINE.. FABRE and published by . This book was released on 1997 with total page 350 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: LE SYSTEME CLIMATIQUE TERRESTRE EST FORME DE PLUSIEURS COMPOSANTES QUI INTERAGISSENT ETROITEMENT (ATMOSPHERE, CALOTTES DE GLACE, OCEANS, LITHOSPHERE ET BIOSPHERE). LA MODELISATION NUMERIQUE PERMET D'ETUDIER CES INTERACTIONS. DANS CE TRAVAIL, L'ECOULEMENT DE PLUSIEURS CALOTTES GLACIAIRES EST MODELISE ET ON S'ATTACHE PARTICULIEREMENT A L'ETUDE DE LEURS INTERACTIONS AVEC L'ATMOSPHERE. CELLES-CI SONT DETERMINEES PAR L'ALTITUDE DE LA SURFACE DE LA CALOTTE, LES TEMPERATURES EN SURFACE ET L'ACCUMULATION. UN MODELE 3D D'ECOULEMENT DE CALOTTE GLACIAIRE, DEVELOPPE AU SEIN DE L'EQUIPE MODELISATION DU LGGE, EST PRESENTE. IL EST TESTE SUR UNE CALOTTE THEORIQUE DANS LE CADRE D'UN PROJET EUROPEEN D'INTERCOMPARAISON DE MODELES. IL EST ENSUITE APPLIQUE A LA CALOTTE DU GROENLAND, EN SIMULANT LA REPONSE DE LA CALOTTE SOUS DES CLIMATS DIFFERENTS DU CLIMAT ACTUEL ET EN ETUDIANT SON EVOLUTION AU COURS DU DERNIER CYCLE INTERGLACIAIRE-GLACIAIRE. LA SENSIBILITE DU MODELE A LA PARAMETRISATION DE L'ACCUMULATION EST MISE EN EVIDENCE. LE MODELE EST ENFIN APPLIQUE A LA RECONSTRUCTION DES CALOTTES DE GLACE PRESENTES DANS L'HEMISPHERE NORD (LAURENTIDE ET FENNOSCANDIE) AU DERNIER MAXIMUM GLACIAIRE (IL Y A ENVIRON 21 000 ANS). TROIS METHODES SONT UTILISEES POUR CALCULER LES CONDITIONS CLIMATIQUES EN ENTREE DU MODELE. DANS LES DEUX PREMIERES, CES CONDITIONS SONT DETERMINEES PAR UNE PARAMETRISATION CALIBREE SUR LES VALEURS ACTUELLES: LES RESULTATS AINSI OBTENUS NE SONT PAS SATISFAISANTS. LA TROISIEME METHODE UTILISE LES TEMPERATURES EN SURFACE ET LES PRECIPITATIONS ISSUES DE SIMULATIONS DU CLIMAT DU DERNIER MAXIMUM GLACIAIRE, REALISEES AVEC LE MODELE DE CIRCULATION GENERALE DE L'ATMOSPHERE DU LMD. LE COUPLAGE ENTRE LES DEUX MODELES NECESSITE UN TRAITEMENT DE DONNEES COMPLEXE, MAIS LES CALOTTES OBTENUES SONT EN MEILLEUR ACCORD AVEC LES DONNEES GEOLOGIQUES SUR L'EXTENSION ET L'EPAISSEUR DES CALOTTES A CETTE EPOQUE

Book excerpt: This volume contains the ten most cited articles that have appeared in the journal Atmosphere-Ocean since 1995. These articles cover a wide range of topics in meteorology, climatology and oceanography. Modelling work is represented in five papers, covering global climate model development; a cumulus parameterization scheme for global climate models; development of a regional forecast modelling system and parameterization of peatland hydraulic processes for climate models. Data rehabilitation and compilation in order to support trend analysis work on comprehensive precipitation and temperature data sets is presented in four papers. Field studies are represented by a paper on the circumpolar lead system. While the modelling studies are global in their application and applicability, the data analysis and field study papers cover environments that are specifically, but not uniquely, Canadian. This book will be of interest to researchers, students and professionals in the various sub-fields of meteorology, oceanography and climate science.
