Book Synopsis Relative Efficacy of Sodium Fluoride and Sodium Monofluorophosphate as Anti-caries Agents in Dentifrices by : William H. Bowen

This book was released on 1995 with total page 368 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It is universally agreed that there has been an enormous decline in the prevalence of dental caries in some segments of the community. This decline has, to a considerable degree, been attributed to the universal availability of fluoride, either in the public drinking water or through the use of fluoridated toothpastes. In many countries, water is not fluoridated, and clearly in such places, the decline is due to the prevalence of caries can be attributed to the use of fluoridated toothpastes.
Book Synopsis Biocompatibility Or Cytotoxic Effects of Dental Composites by : Michel Goldberg
Download or read book Biocompatibility Or Cytotoxic Effects of Dental Composites written by Michel Goldberg and published by Coxmoor Publishing Company. This book was released on 2009 with total page 222 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The evolution of resin-containing materials has resulted in a major advance in restorative dentistry as mercury-containing silver amalgam are used less in the dental practice. However, there is still a debate on the in vitro and in vivo biological properties of dental resins now considered as potential amalgam substitutes. Differing answers between clinical data as opposed to what is known about the tolerability or toxicity of resin-containing materials, creates some benefit/risk interrogations for dental practitioners. In order to reduce the gap between basic science and the clinic, a dialogue has been established between researchers in biomaterials and in biology, and also between researchers and clinicians. A group of well-recognized experts was asked by the Regional European Organization of the Federation Dentaire Internationale to report on the intrinsic properties, the biocompatibility or cytotoxic effects of dental composites. Consequently, the physico-chemical properties of resin based composites and dental adhesives are reviewed in this text. The interaction of resin-containing materials with soft dental and calcified tissues is then studied and adverse effects are reported in a series of in vitro and in vivo studies. In order to reconcile differing evaluations, laboratory data are compared with human clinical data. In addition, a final chapter aims to provide some insights on emerging trends in dental material research. A series of investigations on a new restorative cement are given as examples of future developments. The gap between the bench and the chair side is still open, but answers are now better identified in this book.
Book Synopsis Dental Biomaterials by : Edward Sacher
Download or read book Dental Biomaterials written by Edward Sacher and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2018-12-18 with total page 491 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The contents of this book touch on the all major dental biomaterials: polymers, composites, ceramics and metals. The first part introduces the readers to the surface physicochemical and mechanical characterizations at the nanoscopic level, and the use of finite element analysis. The second part discusses dental adhesion, resin-based composites, polymerization contraction stress, impression materials and soft liners for total prosthesis. The third part deals with ceramics in restorative dentistry: zirconia and lithium disilicate, the fractography of dental ceramics, as well as bioglass for bone growth. The fourth part discusses the toxicity of mercury in dentistry, and the use of preventive materials for dental diseases. The concluding part identifies imminent techniques for dental biomaterials, such as additive manufacturing (3D printing), and bioprinting in dentistry.

Book Synopsis The Root Canal Anatomy in Permanent Dentition by : Marco A. Versiani
Download or read book The Root Canal Anatomy in Permanent Dentition written by Marco A. Versiani and published by Springer. This book was released on 2018-07-25 with total page 431 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book describes the most commonly methods used for the study of the internal anatomy of teeth and provides a complete review of the literature concerning the current state of research employing contemporary imaging tools such as micro-CT and CBCT, which offer greater accuracy whether using qualitative or quantitative approaches. In order to facilitate the management of complex anatomic anomalies, specific clinical protocols and valuable practical tips are suggested. In addition, supplementary material consisting in high-quality videos and images of different anatomies obtained using micro-CT technology is made available to the reader. The book was planned and developed in collaboration with an international team comprising world-recognized researchers and experienced clinicians with expertise in the field. It will provide the readers with a thorough understanding of canal morphology and its variations in all groups of teeth, which is a basic prerequisite for the success of endodontic therapy.
Book Synopsis A Clinical Guide to Dental Traumatology - E-Book by : Louis H. Berman
Download or read book A Clinical Guide to Dental Traumatology - E-Book written by Louis H. Berman and published by Elsevier Health Sciences. This book was released on 2006-09-25 with total page 521 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This practical, highly illustrated book describes the treatment and management of commonly encountered traumatic injuries to the teeth. It relates these types of trauma to crown fractures, root fractures, luxation injuries, and exarticulations. A step-by-step reference, this book also discusses complications that may involve surrounding soft and hard tissues, plus those that may arise in managing medically compromised patients. - Hundreds of full-color photographs and illustrations show concepts and depict case studies and treatment outcomes. - Step-by-step descriptions of treatment plans offer "recipes" for treating patients according to type of injury. - For each type of traumatic injury, you'll learn these key steps: - How to perform a correct initial assessment of the problem. - How to determine whether the patient suffers any related problems. - How to record the injury and its subsequent treatment in the patient record. - How to avoid future problems by ensuring that the entire tooth is treated — including any hidden injury to the pulp or dentin. - Information on etiology and epidemiology of problems promotes more effective treatment of specific injuries and conditions. - The Law and Dental Trauma chapter explains legal issues unique to treating dental injuries under emergency conditions. - Psychological Impact of Injuries chapter describes the reactions that trauma patients may have, and how dentists can improve treatment by providing the patient with emotional support and holistic management. - Chapters on hard tissue injuries focus on injuries to tooth/hard tissue anatomy — and one chapter examines soft tissue management — discussing types of trauma and their effects on surrounding oral tissues. - Introductory chapter provides an overview of topics discussed in the book. - Hundreds of references are listed alphabetically at the end of each chapter with research studies and current articles for further research. - An interdisciplinary approach includes periodontal, endodontic, and pediatric considerations for specific types of injuries.
