Book Synopsis Galatians Verse by Verse by : Grant R. Osborne
Download or read book Galatians Verse by Verse written by Grant R. Osborne and published by Lexham Press. This book was released on 2017 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: After the Apostle Paul returned from his first missionary journey, he heard that a certain group of legalistic Jewish Christians had infiltrated the churches he had established. These false teachers were teaching that new Christians had to be circumcised and follow the Old Testament law in order to be truly saved. Paul, realizing the gospel was at stake, wrote this letter in response. In Galatians Verse by Verse, experienced New Testament scholar sets forth Paul's laser-focused argument: Jesus is not only the Messiah; he came to inaugurate a new era in salvation history. In this new era, Christians are not made right with God by obeying the law; justification is by faith alone. This frees believers to live their lives not trying to earn salvation, but instead joyfully keeping in step with the Spirit. Pastors, Bible study leaders, and invested laypeople will all benefit from Osborne's careful reading of the text and commitment to making sense of the New Testament without scholarly jargon. The Osborne New Testament Commentary Series is a set of commentaries on every New Testament book. In each volume, Grant R. Osborne seeks to carefully exposit the text in plain language, bringing out the treasures in each book and making them accessible for today's readers.

Book Synopsis Living Sacrifice by : Shaneika Henriques Badley
Download or read book Living Sacrifice written by Shaneika Henriques Badley and published by Christian Faith Publishing, Inc.. This book was released on 2022-04-19 with total page 78 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In 2 Timothy 2:3, it declares, "Thou therefore endure hardness as good soldier of Jesus Christ." This verse of scripture tells in a nutshell what living sacrifice is all about. Through many dangers, toils, and snares I have already come, this clearly depicts the life of every Christian believer who is sold out and fully committed to the spreading of the gospel of Jesus Christ. We must suffer, endure hardness, and persevere for this great work that was hand down to us with all boldness, courage, determination, soundness of mind, and love. As the Lord opened my dark understanding, I now know that Christianity is more than what meets the eye, and some lessons can only be learned through experiences. Our daily walk is a step-by-step process; some days, we will be pressed like the olive to extract its oil, crushed like the grape to extract its juice, and grind and melt in the fire like the ore to extract pure gold. Our process as Christians is never easy but necessary. Look how rich and costly the olive oil is at the end of its process; it is used worldwide in every church as it represents the blood of Jesus when consecrated by an anointed man or woman of God. See how expensive and valuable grape juice and wine are in today's society; our famous Christmas cake recipe would be incomplete without it. Finally, gold is the most expensive of its kind and is used for various purposes such as in medicine, dentistry, electronics and computers, medal and statues, and jewelry. We are all a part of God's masterplan and purpose here on earth, and it's our responsibility to seek Him, come what may, to know who we are and what purpose we serve in the church or the body of Christ. Just like the olive, the grape, and the gold, we all have a specific purpose as children of God, but we must endure the process to function effectively in the capacity unto which we were called. He knoweth the way that I take, when He hath tried me I shall come forth as gold. --Job 23:10
Download or read book Sacrifice written by Alessandro Orsini and published by Cornell University Press. This book was released on 2017-09-15 with total page 280 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Alessandro Orsini is one of Italy's premier analysts of political extremism. His investigation of the beliefs and mind-sets of Europe's political fringe has largely focused on anarchist and far-left groups, but in Sacrifice he turns his inquiry to the rapidly expanding neofascist movement. He joined local groups of a neofascist organization he names Sacrifice in two neighboring cities with very different political cultures. In this gripping, "insider" book, which features dialogues with various militia members, Orsini shows how fascists live day to day, how they understand their world, and how they build a parallel universe in which the correctness and probity of their attitudes are clear. Orsini describes the long, troubled process by which these two groups slowly accepted him as an investigatoractivist and later expelled him for his ideologically uncommitted stance and refusal to subject his observations to censorship. His activities as a fascist were often mundane: leafleting, distributing food parcels to the indigent, and attending public rallies. In Sacrifice, Orsini describes from within the masculine ethos of the militias, the groups' relations with local police and politicians, and the central role of violence and anticommunist actions in building a sense of fascist community.

Download or read book The Good Dad written by Jim Daly and published by Zondervan. This book was released on 2014-04-22 with total page 224 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It’s never too late to be a better father Jim Daly, president and CEO of Focus on the Family, is an expert in fatherhood—in part because his own "fathers" failed him so badly. His biological dad was an alcoholic. His stepfather deserted him. His foster father accused Jim of trying to kill him. All were out of Jim's life by the time he turned 13. Isn’t it odd—and reminiscent of the hand of God—that the director of the leading organization on family turned out to be a guy whose own background as a kid and son were pretty messed up? Or could it be that successful parenting is discovered not in the perfect, peaceful household but in the midst of battles and messy situations, where God must constantly be called to the scene? That is the mystery unraveled in this book. Using his own expertise, humor, and inexhaustible wealth of stories, Jim will show you that God can make you a good dad, a great dad, in spite of the way you’ve grown up and in spite of the mistakes you’ve made. Maybe even because of them. It’s not about becoming a perfect father. It’s about trying to become a better father, each and every day. It's about building relationships with your children through love, grace, patience, and fun—and helping them grow into the men and women they’re meant to be.
