Download or read book Emunah written by Dovid Sapirman and published by Mosaica Press. This book was released on 2015-12-01 with total page 224 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Torah has been transmitted to us with extreme care and precision. The Rambam believed in it and passed it on. The Vilna Gaon believed in it and passed it on. Our grandparents believed in it and passed it on. This is called kabbalas Avos – and it alone is enough to trust and live by our mesorah. Still, substantiating emunah with one’s own thinking (known as emunas ha-seichel) offers huge advantages. It provides excitement — a passion and an enthusiasm that make the emunah alive and vibrant. It helps tailor our Torah lives to our individual minds and souls. It helps make Yiddishkeit real. No magical “leap of faith” is necessary in order to believe. All we need is clear thinking – as demonstrated in this incredible book. In this ‘refresher course’ to emunah, we will rediscover why we believe, and will be able to daven and learn with ever-increasing levels of emunah and connection to Hashem.

Book Synopsis Grace and Torah by : Jacob Martin Myers
Download or read book Grace and Torah written by Jacob Martin Myers and published by Augsburg Fortress Publishing. This book was released on 1975 with total page 108 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In both the Old and New Testaments the pattern of grace and Torah, in that order, is perhaps the central feature. The pattern is evident as early as the Exodus experience, and is to be traced through the prophets' memory of Moses all the way to the Pauline theme of God's deliverance in Jesus Christ. The Mosaic religion is one of grace. Covenant implies the grace of deliverance and the Torah itself is an act of grace. The Deuteronomist is concerned about Judah's failure to accept the Torah as a response to God's grace and love. The later prophets, most notably Jeremiah, speak of the Lord's goodness to Israel manifested both in his guidance through the desert and in his determination to renew the captive nation's response to his gracious deliverance through Christ, and the following chapters to the Torah of the Christian life. In brief scope, Professor Myers opens up fresh insights into the unity of the biblical message - the unity of grace and Torah.

Download or read book The Scent of Snowflowers written by Rivka Leah Klein and published by Feldheim Publishers. This book was released on 1989 with total page 536 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Memoirs of an Orthodox Jew (née Einhorn) from Szombathely. In 1942 she married Yaakov Klein from Ujhely, and they settled in Budapest. Yaakov found work in a textile firm. Soon after the Nazi occupation in March 1944, one day Rivka met Károly Bitter, whose wife Magda worked in Yaakov's firm. The Bitters were Catholics who offered to help the Kleins. Károly himself went into the countryside and brought one of Rivka's sisters and later a brother of hers (who he smuggled out of a ghetto) to Budapest. Rivka gave birth to a daughter in May 1944. The Bitters also had a little daughter. When roundups and deportations of Jews began, the Bitters took the Kleins and ten of their relatives to hide in the their own apartment. Later, the Bitters got another place to live and gave their apartment to the Klein and Einhorn family. Rivka, her husband, and her sister and brother had false papers and could go out to do errands and shopping. The others had to remain silent and indoors all the time. Presents a detailed description of what life was like for hidden Jews, and specifically Orthodox Jews, during the German occupation. When the war ended, the Kleins and Einhorns discovered that almost all the residents of their apartment building were Jews in hiding (all of them had been pretending to be good fascists and Catholics), and that it was built by a wealthy Jewish architect in 1942 specifically for the purpose of hiding his family. All of the residents of this building survived. However, other members of the two families were deported to Auschwitz and murdered. The Kleins later emigrated to New York.
