B. A Life by Bertrand, one of the archbishop's attendant clerks, and faithfully attached to him. He was spoken of by Archbishop Albert as "discipulus quem diligebat pater Edmundus, et secretorum ejus conscius." After the archbishop's death, he entered the Cistercian order at Pontigny, of which he became prior in 1249. The most complete copy of this Life is that printed, from a copy taken of the original once at Pontigny, in Martene and Durand, Thesaurus Anecdotorum, vol. iii.
