Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Little Book of the Audi Quattro is a 128-page hardback book written by Stan Fowler and Charlotte Morgan. Developed using four wheel drive technology, the Audi quattro stands out as one of the most revolutionary sports cars ever built. From its debut in the 1980s, the quattro was set to steal the show and it went on to do just that both on and off road. Today, it is a much loved classic with fans and quattro enthusiasts the world over. Originally, Audi had intended to produce just 400 quattros to be used in rally driving, but in the end, nearly 11,500 vehicles were built for a hungry export market. The car was unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in March 1980 and as the first four-wheel drive grand tourer since 1966 it caused a sensation. The car became one of the most significant rally cars of all time when it was one of the first to take advantage of the changed rules in competition racing allowing a four-wheel drive to participate. Critics were sceptical that a four-wheel drive could achieve as near as much momentum, power and versatility. They were to be proved wrong.

Download or read book Audi TT Performance Portfolio 1998-2006 written by and published by Brooklands Books Limited. This book was released on 2007-02-01 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: First shown as the TT coupe concept at the 1995 Frankfurt Motor Show and then soon afterward as the TT convertible at the Tokyo Motor Show, the cars heralded a new design language from Audi - the Bauhaus style from the 1930s that looked a little brutal at first, but has proven to have a long and successful production life. It finally arrived on the European market for the 1999 model year, with America following a little later. Senior Audi models, the A4, A6, and A8, have their engine and transmission sited longitudinally in the car, but the TT was based on the smaller A3 platform, which meant that the mechanical components were sited transversely. After a slow start, sales picked up and have remained strong ever since. The media loved the Audi TT and continued to write glowing reports about it even though it was six years old in the marketplace, outlasting the Mercedes-Benz SLK, BMW Z3, and Porsche Boxster by quite some time.
Download or read book You & Your Audi TT written by Ian Shaw and published by Haynes Publishing Group. This book was released on 2005-04 with total page 160 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Audi TT is one of the few cars which transcends the automotive world, and is applauded for its design per se. Since its launch in early 1999, the TT has been a spectacular sales success, particularly in the UK and the USA. Quattro four-wheel-drive makes the TT unique amongst the current crop of coupes and roadsters. Nearly six years after it was first unveiled to the press, the car still turns heads, and has inspired a burgeoning aftermarket accessory and tuning industry. This all-color book will fascinate all Audi TT owners and sports car enthusiasts in general.

The Quattro took the Manufacturers’ Championship in 1982 and 1984, and the Drivers’ Championship in 1983 and 1984 with Hannu Mikkola and Stig Blomqvist respectively. Audi implemented a continuous development programme for the Quattro, and the A1 and A2 were produced to meet the Group B regulations introduced in 1983, while the fearsome Sport Quattro S1 was introduced in 1984. The ultimate development – the S1 E2 – was introduced at the end of 1985, producing over 500bhp, and winning the 1985 San Remo rally in the hands of Walter Röhrl and the famous Pikes Peak hillclimb with Michele Mouton. The Audi Quattro Rally Car Manual looks at the design, evolution, anatomy and operation of the Quattro.
