Book excerpt: “The author does an excellent job adapting the original fairy tale to an Amish setting . . . a delight from start to finish.” —The Neverending TBR In Sarah Price's heartwarming Amish version of this best-loved fairytale, a hardworking, overlooked young woman is rewarded in unexpected ways . . . “Be kind and have faith.” Ella Troyer strives to abide by her mother's final words, although life in the small Amish town of Echo Creek isn't always easy. Her new stepmother, Linda, treats her coldly, and her two stepsisters, Drusilla and Anna, delight in gossip and laziness. After her father's death, Ella's stepsisters are free to attend youth singings while Ella stays at home to manage the household chores, rarely seeing another soul. Until one day, while running an errand, she has a chance meeting with a young Amish man from a nearby town. Drusilla and Anna are full of admiration for charming, affluent newcomer Johannes Wagler, and Linda hopes to ensnare him as a husband for one of her girls—while keeping Ella out of the way. As for Hannes, he longs to catch another glimpse of the mysterious young woman who can sing so sweetly and bake the most delicious pie he's ever sampled. Now, with a little help from some unlikely sources, Ella dares to hope she might find her heart's dearest wishes—for love, family, and a home of her own—coming true at last . . . “The tale is sweetly and smartly pieced together.” —Fresh Fiction “Price has done a wonderful job in the retelling of Cinderella through an Amish perspective . . . very fun and interesting.” —Kentucky Book Lover

Book excerpt: The idea of this women's magazine originated with Samuel Williams, a Cincinnati Methodist, who thought that Christian women needed a magazine less worldly than Godey's Lady's Book and Snowden's Lady's Companion. Written largely by ministers, this exceptionally well-printed little magazine contained well-written essays of a moral character, plenty of poetry, articles on historical and scientific matters, and book reviews. Among western writers were Alice Cary, who contributed over a hundred sketches and poems, her sister Phoebe Cary, Otway Curry, Moncure D. Conway, and Joshua R. Giddings; and New England contributors included Mrs. Lydia Sigourney, Hannah F. Gould, and Julia C.R Dorr. By 1851, each issue published a peice of music and two steel plates, usually landscapes or portraits. When Davis E. Clark took over the editorship in 1853, the magazine became brighter and attained a circulation of 40,000. Unlike his predecessors, Clark included fictional pieces and made the Repository a magazine for the whole family. After the war it began to decline and in 1876 was replaced by the National Repository. The Ladies' Repository was an excellent representative of the Methodist mind and heart. Its essays, sketches, and poems, its good steel engravings, and its moral tone gave it a charm all its own. -- Cf. American periodicals, 1741-1900.

Book excerpt: When Cloud is expelled from Master Sky’s ranger training program, the last gryphon she expects to find at her den is her old lover Soar. Now she’s the only gryphon with the skills to get inside a corrupt Calgary eyrie and Soar needs her in more ways than one. Cloud has little choice but to accept the mission. Success will get her back in Sky’s good books but accepting Soar as her working partner will either heal her broken heart or ruin it completely. Master Soar walked out of Cloud’s life when her departure to the ranger program was inevitable. She was motivated, beautiful and too young to tie herself to someone like him. As much as it hurt, it was better to let her go. But when the Calgary eyrie is at the centre of a conspiracy to destroy his own, he’s forced to play every card he has, including Cloud. When Cloud shuts him out and starts to operate on her own he has no choice but to go in after her, risking the entire mission to get the gryphon he loves out alive.

Book excerpt: Matt I’m a playboy, a modern-day Casanova. I don’t love women, I just make their orgasm dreams come true. That’s who I am. She’s the coach’s daughter and the ultimate ice princess - always cold, composed, and spoiled. We have nothing in common, until she makes a proposition I can’t turn down. I’m only human after all, and she’s hot. It doesn’t mean anything. It’s just sex. Nikki I’ve always done what’s expected of me, but when the rug gets ripped out from under my so-called “perfect” life, I decide to finally do something for myself. He’s cocky and a total manwhore, but despite my initial objections, I can’t deny that the idea of using him to enhance my experience in the bedroom is an appealing one. I make him an offer that I expect him to scoff at - but he doesn’t. Now I’m questioning everything. Down by Contact is a steamy standalone sports romance. It is book three in the LA Wolves series.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the Grasp (Book 1) I’m at the top of my game, and the most notoriously private player in the league, but my personal life leaves something to be desired. I thought I’d have more accomplished by now - like a wife and family - but for nine years I’ve held onto the memory of the girl who got away. Now she’s back and I’m more determined than ever to make her mine. For good this time. Across the Middle (Book 2) From the moment I laid eyes on Gina Rodrigo, she twisted my whole world on its axis. For months I refused to give into the feelings she evoked in me. I’d gone down that road before and it led nowhere good. But one kiss changed everything and I couldn’t fight my feelings anymore. Except she doesn’t know my secret and the deeper we get, the more the ghosts of my past threaten to ruin the first true happiness I’ve ever found. Down by Contact (Book 3) I’m a playboy, a modern-day Casanova. I don’t love women, I just make their orgasm dreams come true. She’s the coach’s daughter and the ultimate ice princess - always cold, composed, and spoiled. We have nothing in common, until she makes me a proposition I can’t turn down. I’m only human after all, and she’s hot. It shouldn’t mean anything. So why can’t I get her out of my damn head? Taking the Handoff (Book 4) I couldn’t say no when my best friend asked for a favor. His little sister needed a safe place until she got her feet under her in LA, so of course I said yes. But I was not prepared for the vixen that showed up at my door looking NOTHING like the girl I remember. She’s off limits and I’m trying to behave. Realy. I am. But the longer she stays here, the more tempted I am to take her and make her mine.
