Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Life of Lord Courtney Shortly after Lord Courtney's death I accepted Lady Courtney's request to write his life. While lightening my labour in every possible way and allowing me to make unrestricted use of her Journal, she has left me an absolutely free hand in the selection of material and the expression of opinion. To her, to Mrs. Oliver, Lord Courtney's sister, and to Professor George Unwin, for eight years his secretary, I am indebted for reading the book in proof and for valuable criticisms and suggestions. Relations and friends have earned my gratitude by their ready response to appeals for assistance, and I regret that the exigencies of space have prevented the use of all the information and comment which have been supplied. His oldest surviving friend, Mr. William Stebbing, compiled a brief memoir of the highest value, from which I have made copious extracts. The Master of St. Johns has kindly examined the College books for the details of his academic career, while Dr. Liveing, Dr. Bonney and Mrs. Bushell have supplied personal recollections of the young Cambridge student. Mr. William Latey has investigated his connection with the Hardwicke Society in its earliest days, and Sir Edward Clarke has given me his impressions of his share in its debates. The Times has generously permitted me to reveal Leonard Courtney's authorship of many of its leading articles, and Sir J. Thursfield and Dean Wace have answered questions relating to Printing House Square. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Born to an immensely rich Victorian industrial family, Colin Tennant used his wealth to live an eccentric lifestyle of self-indulgence from the 1940s to his death in 2010. He bought the private island of Mustique in the West Indies and made it one of the most exclusive destinations for the famous—royalty, film and pop stars, international businessmen and jet-setters flocked there. His parties were legendary. He was an original member of the Princess Margaret set (even suggested as a possible husband) and her visits to the island were always newsworthy. As Tennant's literary executer, Nicholas Courtney personally knew his subject and had access to unseen family papers and photographs. He tells the inside story of Tennant's remarkable and often tragic life which continues to cause ripples even after his death.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Women desire to live well. However, living well in this modern world is a challenge. The pace of life, along with the new front porch of social media, has changed the landscape of our lives. Women have been told for far too long that being on the go and accumulating more things will make their lives full. As a result, we grasp for the wrong things in life and come up empty. God created us to walk with him; to know him and to be loved by him. He is our living well and when we drink from the water he continually provides, it will change us. Our marriages, our parenting, and our homemaking will be transformed. Mommy-blogger Courtney Joseph is a cheerful realist. She tackles the challenge of holding onto vintage values in a modern world, starting with the keys to protecting our walk with God. No subject is off-limits as she moves on to marriage, parenting, and household management. Rooted in the Bible, her practical approach includes tons of tips that are perfect for busy moms, including: Simple Solutions for Studying God’s Word How to Handle Marriage, Parenting, and Homemaking in a Digital Age 10 Steps to Completing Your Husband Dealing With Disappointed Expectations in Motherhood Creating Routines that Bring Rest Pursuing the Discipline and Diligence of the Proverbs 31 Woman There is nothing more important than fostering your faith, building your marriage, training your children, and creating a haven for your family. Women Living Well is a clear and personal guide to making the most of these precious responsibilities.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Meditations on the Psalms helping women to express their feelings and grow in their faith. Many of us suppress our feelings because we’re worried they are ungodly. Others of us are so led by our emotions that we let them dominate everything, including our faith. In these honest, personal and uplifting meditations on 24 selected psalms, Courtney Reissig looks at emotions we all experience, ranging from shame, anxiety, and anger through to gratitude, hope, and joy. For each, she shows how the psalms give us permission to acknowledge how we feel before God, and how they can help us to use those feelings productively and faithfully. This inspiring book will give women a language to cry out to God in order to help them process their feelings, as well as help them to grow in their faith. Can be used as a daily devotion.

Book excerpt: Folding laundry. Weeding the garden. Cooking dinner. Changing diapers. Work in the home can seem so ordinary. Does any of it matter? Is there meaning in our most mundane moments at home? When the work of the home fills our days, it is easy to get disillusioned and miss God's grand purpose for our work. As image bearers of the Creator who made us to work, we contribute to society, bringing order out of chaos and loving God through loving others—meaning there's glory in every moment. In this encouraging book, Courtney Reissig combats the common misconceptions about the value of at-home work—helping us see how Christ infuses purpose into every facet of the ordinary.
