Book excerpt: “If You can do anything, take pity on us and help us!” And Jesus said to him, “‘If You can?’ All things are possible to him who believes.” (Mark 9:22-23) Original title: Miracles and Parables of Our Lord. Volume 7 A deep, inspiring, and often challenging study of the Lord Jesus Christ's miracles and parables. Men who were led by the hand or groped their way along the wall to reach Jesus were touched by his finger and went home without a guide, rejoicing that Jesus Christ had opened their eyes. Jesus is still able to perform such miracles. And, with the power of the Holy Spirit, his Word will be expounded and we’ll watch for the signs to follow, expecting to see them at once. Why shouldn’t those who read this be blessed with the light of heaven? This is my heart's inmost desire. I can’t put fine words together. I’ve never studied speech. In fact, my heart loathes the very thought of intentionally speaking with fine words when souls are in danger of eternal punishment. No, I work to speak straight to your hearts and consciences, and if there is anyone with faith to receive, God will bless them with fresh revelation. – Charles H. Spurgeon In this seventh volume, Charles H. Spurgeon expounds on the healing of the man with the withered hand, Jesus walking on the sea, and the healing of the lunatic child. List of Chapters 1. The Withered Hand (Matthew 12:10, 13) 2. Jesus Angry with Hard Hearts (Mark 3:5) 3. Jesus, Not a Ghost (Matthew 14:26) 4. Mr. Fearing Comforted (Matthew 14:31) 5. The History of Little Faith (Matthew 14:31) 6. Hope in Hopeless Cases (Matthew 17:17) 7. A Desperate Case – How to Meet It (Matthew 17:19-21) 8. “If You Can” (Mark 9:22-23) 9. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In todays world, it can be difficult to maintain your faith. Those seeking a greater understanding of the Bible have numerous excellent theological commentaries available to them, but due to volume and depth, many of these are out of reach of laypeople. Others lose contact with the Bible, because it no longer seems relevant to life. They use a superficial knowledge of science and evolution to exclude God and faith from their experiences. The Laymans Commentary: Volume 7 Epistles of Paul presents a passage bypassage explanation of the thirteen letters of Paul to the early churches. In this seventh volume, author John Devine considers the writings of the academic, theologian, specialist in the Old Testament Scriptures and apostle to the rest of the world as they relate to effective everyday living. Pauls deep understanding of the work and teaching of Jesus are addressed explaining Gods plan for a relationship with the individual and the means by which this was made possible by the death and resurrection of his Son. The expectation of eternal life and other important doctrines of the Christian worldview which have impacted people of all subsequent generations are highlighted and confirm that science and faith are complementary in giving purpose and meaning to life.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Give Us This Day is a unique daily devotional commentary for the entire New Testament based on the ancient method called lectio divina. Lectio divina, or “divine reading,” is the method used by the early church and countless Christians through the centuries to read the Scriptures to form and transform the soul more than merely to inform the mind. Give Us This Day deals in depth with entire passages and their contexts. Rather than selecting only certain portions of the New Testament to write about, Fr. Charles has written a devotional for each and every passage of the New Testament. Fr. Charles writes for the whole person: he’s not afraid to use his sense of humor, and he carefully relates the Bible not only to the individual’s life but also to the life of the Church. At the end of each day’s devotional, an appropriate Prayer is offered, as well as Points for Further Reflection on the day’s lesson. Each devotional concludes with a suggested Resolution to put into effect what the Spirit has stirred up in the heart of the reader during the course of his reading, meditation, and prayer.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Pulpit Commentary was first published between 1880 and 1919 and is a highly respected work written by conservative, trustworthy men. Containing over 22,000 pages and 95,000 entries, it is one of the largest and best-selling homiletic commentary sets of all time. It was directed by editors Joseph Exell and Henry Donald Maurice Spence-Jones and utilized more than 100 authors over a 30-year span. When reading this commentary, it is not difficult to see why it has remained a favorite amongst pastors for more than 100 years. There are three key elements which set this apart from its contemporaries, the first being that it gives an exposition, or verse-by-verse, annotation of each verse in the Bible. The second element is that it explores the framework of the text, the homiletics. Finally, it supplies the homilies with multiple model sermons from various authors. Also included is a translation as well as historical and geographical information. The Evangelical Magazine and Missionary Chronicle declared, “This commentary bids fair to take a conspicuous place among the ever-multiplying aids to the study of the Holy Scriptures. It will revive the great work of Lange, and will far exceed the Speaker's Commentary in the bulk and fullness of its material. The peculiarity of the Pulpit Commentary is that it offers special assistance to the preacher: first by giving him a critical and exegetical exposition of the text of Scripture, and then providing him with succinct and helpful directions as to the preachable aspects of the chapter and paragraph already explained." The print edition of this set typically retails for more than $1,000 making the current offered price a very good bargain. Due to its size, it has been broken up into nine separate volumes: Volume 1 Genesis to Joshua Volume 2 Judges to 2 Kings Volume 3 1 Chronicles to Job Volume 4 Psalms to Song of Songs Volume 5 Isaiah to Daniel Volume 6 Hosea to Malachi Volume 7 Matthew to John Volume 8 Act to Philippians Volume 9 Colossians to Revelation The footnotes have been placed in line with the text with each footnote number enclosed in red brackets (i.e.: []) and the text in green. There is also a linked table of contents at the beginning of each volume for ease of navigation. Key Features * Over 22,000 pages with more than 95,000 entries * One of the largest and exhaustive commentary sets of its kind * Contributions from over 100 authors * Expositions—with thorough verse-by-verse commentary of each verse of the Bible * Homiletics—with the framework or overall look of the text * Homilies—four to six sample sermons from various authors * Detailed information on Biblical customs * Historical and geographical information * Translations of key Hebrew and Greek words All 23 Volumes of the printed version are included in these nine volumes. 1. Book excerpt: "To be a disciple of Jesus Christ is to be in a position of privilege and blessing beyond anything the world might offer," begins author Jeremy Walker. Life in Christ explores the unsearchable riches of the Christian pilgrimage and traces its trajectory, highlighting key elements in the believer's experience. Do you wrestle with assurance? Have you grasped the engagement demanded in Christian living? Do you find the way wearying at times? Do you struggle with your Christian identity? Walker provides instruction for Christians to assess their own standing and progress in the faith exhorting and equipping and always pointing them ahead to the hope of the glory of Christ. Along the way, he encourages God's people to live a life to the praise of His glory as he examines some of the basic truths that establish and direct a true child of God. "In this splendid book on the very central issues of eternity, Jeremy Walker, like J. C. Ryle of old, carries the reader along with an excellent, gripping style. It is a book that everyone should read and then pass on to others who need an explanation of the true gospel, especially those slaves of political correctness sadly found in many modern pulpits." Erroll Hulse, pastor, conference speaker, author, and founding editor of Reformation Today

No, I work to speak straight to your hearts and consciences, and if there is anyone with faith to receive, God will bless them with fresh revelation. - Charles H. Spurgeon In this first volume, Charles H. Spurgeon expounds on the following miracles: Jesus heals two blind men by touching their eyes (Matthew 9:27-30). Jesus uses spit to heal another blind man (Mark 8:22-25). Jesus passes through the midst of those who would kill him (Luke 4:28-30). Jesus brings a widow's son back to life (Luke 7:11-17). Jesus releases a woman from a spirit of infirmity (Luke 13:10-13). Jesus heals ten lepers but only one thanks him (Luke 17:12-16). Jesus gently rebukes his mother then makes wine for the wedding (John 2:1-5). Jesus tests a nobleman's faith and his son is healed (John 4:46-53). About the Author Charles Haddon (C. H.) Spurgeon (1834-1892) was a British Baptist preacher. He started preaching at age 17, and quickly became famous. He is still known as the "Prince of Preachers," and frequently had more than 10,000 people present to hear him preach at the Metropolitan Tabernacle in London. His sermons were printed in newspapers, translated into many languages, and published in many books.
