Book excerpt: "En s'appuyant sur des principes post-coloniaux, cette enquête narrative (Clandinin et Connelly, 2000), située à l'intérieur du système scolaire francophone en milieu minoritaire à l'Île-du-Prince-Edouard, Canada, met en lumière le développement des identités sociales (Bhabha, 1994; Hall, 1990, 1991) de quatre jeunes anglo-dominants d'héritage francophone (Gauthier, 2015-2016). Ces enfants des "générations perdues" (Denis, 2010-2011) sont héritiers de l'érosion progressive de cette minorité linguistique officielle, et leurs expériences à l'école de langue française s'insèrent dans le caractère réparateur de l'article 23 de la Charte canadienne des droits et libertés. Au moment de la collecte des données, ces jeunes, âgés entre 14 et 16 ans, vivaient en français à l'école et en anglais à la maison. En raison de ce passage quotidien et de longue durée entre les deux communautés de langues officielles de Canada, ils ont vécu des moments de continuité avec la minorité francophone, ainsi que des moments de rupture avec celle-ci (Hall, 1990), qui ont contribué à la construction de leurs identités sociales. Ainsi, les constats de cette recherche révèlent que l'identité sociale des participants se déploie à l'intérieur du "tiers-espace" entre la majorité anglophone et la minorité francophone. Préconisé par Homi Bhabha (1994), le tiers-espace signifie une zone de contact entre groupes culturels qui se manifeste par des processus d'hybridation identitaires, qui problématisent la notion de frontières solides entre cultures, et qui se donnent à la déconstruction des relations binaires qui en résultent. Les nouvelles connaissances établis par cette recherche auront des implications importantes pour le système scolaire francophone en milieu minoritaire, qui cherche à mettre en oeuvre sa dispsition réparatrice."-Résumé.
