Substantially similar to that of the earlier years reported on, there were slight variations which it may be interesting to note. The classes in which the percentage was larger than in the previous year were - Theology and Philosophy, as against Arts and Sciences, against Poetry, against Miscellaneous Literature against In the following classes the proportion was lessened - History and Biography, against Sociology, against Philology, against Prose Fiction, against The steadiness an'd regularity which have been characteristic of the reading in the Library from the commencement, are illustrated by these figures: the largest difference in the percentage of any class, between the two years, is only and the average difference is. Less than half of one per cent. For further particulars respecting the year's issue, I would refer to the annual table, p. 13, and the detailed summary table, showing the work of each year from 1878, on pp. L4, 15. The following periodicals have been added to those placed on the tables of the magazine room. Those marked are presented. The total number now at the service of the public is 290. Book excerpt: Excerpt from A Catalogue of the Manuscripts in the Library of the Hunterian Museum in the University of Glasgow But as he grew older. His attention concentrated itself more and more closely on the Hunterian Library. Latterly his whole heart was set on the preparation of an adequate catalogue of its manuscripts; only his closest friends realise how much time and energy he devoted to the task. It was indeed hard that he should have had to leave the projected book unfinished. Fortunately, however, the Memorial Committee, in their selection of an editor to deal with the mass of unrevised material, were able to follow what they have every reason to believe would have been his own choice. Dr. Young had the fullest confidence in the bibliographical skill of the Rev. P. Henderson Aitken, under whose ham/is the work has assumed the form in which it is now presented to the public. Well-nigh twenty years had passed away, since Jacob had had his vision at Bethel. They had been years of hard and constant labour they had been years of remarkable prosperity. No longer was Jacob an empty-handed fugitive, leaving his home for an uncertain future. God had been with him, and had advanced him wonderfully, and had blessed him in his basket and his store. And1 now he was a rich and prosperous man, master of herds and flocks innumerable, and with a host of servants at his call, ready to further him in every I venture. There are men who prosper and who pay for prospering by never seeing the angels any. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Catalogue of the Books in the Library of the Institute of Accountants and Actuaries in Glasgow The plan followed in the preparation of this Catalogue is that of an alphabetical arrangement of titles, authors, and subjects, the only exceptions being those of Biographies and Periodicals; these will be found in the Supplement. Books received during the course of compilation have, where possible, been entered, and therefore many books appearing in the latter part of the Catalogue have not, in the earlier part, the corresponding entries that they otherwise would have had. In addition to being a record of the books in the Library, the Catalogue contains references to pamphlets, magazine articles, chapters on special subjects, and other supplementary matter. These additions, particularly the biographical and bibliographical notes, are by no means exhaustive, but they will prove, it is hoped, of value to members, and of service to them in making further research. The references given have been confined to the books in the Library. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. He applied to the Earl of Home for the loan of the set of Views in the library at Douglas Castle, which was readily granted I supplied one or two that were awanting, and he then had the whole reproduced by Messrs.
