Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Synopsis Pierre Teilhard De Chardin on People and Planet by : Celia Deane-Drummond
Download or read book Pierre Teilhard De Chardin on People and Planet written by Celia Deane-Drummond and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2017-07-05 with total page 250 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Humanity's relationship to nature is central to the work of Pierre Teilhard de Chardin, an influential priest and scientist of the twentieth century. Teilhard believed that spiritual development must be viewed alongside material development and that evolutionary theory lies at the heart of humanity's understanding of its place in the world. 'Pierre Teilhard de Chardin on People and Planet' argues that Teilhard's cosmic mysticism and intense interest in both cosmological and evolutionary sciences are highly relevant to current debates about how best to construct a meaningful spirituality. The book offers a critical revision of Teilhard's thought in the light of current debates in evolutionary science, eco-theology and environmental ethics. The essays present fresh interpretations of Teilhard's work and point to the significance of his thought in the contemporary study of science and religion.

Book excerpt: Le réel est (réellement) non représentable: telle est la découverte majeure que les scientifiques et les physiciens en particulier, ont faite pour leur compte au cours du XXe siècle. Mais, le savent-ils? The real is (really) unrepresentable: this is the major discovery that scientists and physicists in particular have made on their own during the twentieth century.

Book Synopsis Non-Philosophy, Social Action, and Performance by : Yvanka Raynova
Download or read book Non-Philosophy, Social Action, and Performance written by Yvanka Raynova and published by BoD – Books on Demand. This book was released on 2018-11-22 with total page 142 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This special issue of Labyrith is the first part of a diptych dedicated to the eminent French philosopher François Laruelle in honor of his 80th Anniversary. It aims to unveil the attracting force of Laruelle's non-philosophy for artists and scholars from different disciplines. The essays demonstrates in an emblematic way how a new "democratic order of thinking" permits non-philosophy to enclose domains that have long been considered as opposites - philosophy, science, religion and the arts - and to superpose these variables in a process of creative invention. The issue includes an original dialogue between François Laruelle and Anne Françoise Schmid, an inteview with Laruelle's translator into English Anthony Paul Smith conducted by Mark W. Westmoreland, and articles by Yvanka B. Raynova, Constance L. Mui, Julien S. Murphy, Katerina Kolozova, Adam Louis Klein, Nicholas Eppert, Laura Cull Ó Maoilearca, Gilbert Kieffer, Benoît Maire, and Anne-Françoise Schmid.
Book Synopsis Process Engineering Renewal 2 by : Éric Schaer
Download or read book Process Engineering Renewal 2 written by Éric Schaer and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2020-07-17 with total page 270 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Process engineering emerged at the beginning of the 20th Century and has become an essential scientific discipline for the matter and energy processing industries. Its success is incontrovertible, with the exponential increase in techniques and innovations. Rapid advances in new technologies such as artificial intelligence, as well as current societal needs sustainable development, climate change, renewable energy, the environment are developments that must be taken into account in industrial renewal. Process Engineering Renewal 2 focuses on research in process engineering, which is partly overshadowed by the sciences that contribute to its development. The external constraints of this interface science must be seen in relation to conservation, sustainable development, global warming, etc., which are linked to current success and the difficulty of taking risks in research.

Book Synopsis Time, Emergences and Communications by : Bernard Dugué
Download or read book Time, Emergences and Communications written by Bernard Dugué and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2018-04-16 with total page 166 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book presents an attempt to understand emergences in various situations where material components interact by coordinating their actions to "make system" with emerging properties (or functions) accessible to experimental investigation. I will endeavor to show that communications play a decisive role in these processes. A strategy will be implemented. If communications are so important, then we must show that they are an essential property of matter. This justifies the detailed analyses on the quantum world developed in the first five chapters. Also includes a study of the strange property of entanglement as well as an interpretation of the chemical bonds which cannot be circumvented in order to understand the functioning of complex systems; Living cells and animals. So the strategy consolidates as much as possible the physical foundations and the understanding of the primordial matter and then passing to the realities based on very large numbers of elementary components.
Book Synopsis Perspectives on Industrial Ecology by : Dominique Bourg
Download or read book Perspectives on Industrial Ecology written by Dominique Bourg and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2017-09-29 with total page 384 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Business-as-usual in terms of industrial and technological development – even if based on a growing fear of pollution and shortages of natural resources – will never deliver sustainable development. However, the growing interest in recent years in the new science of industrial ecology (IE), and the idea that industrial systems should mimic the quasi-cyclical functions of natural ecosystems in an 'industrial food chain', holds promise in addressing not only short-term environmental problems but also the long-term holistic evolution of industrial systems. This possibility requires a number of key conditions to be met, not least the restructuring of our manufacturing and consumer society to reduce the effects of material and energy flows at the very point in history when globalisation is rapidly increasing them. This book sets out to address the theoretical considerations that should be made implicit in future research as well as practical implementation options for industry. The systematic recovery of industrial wastes, the minimisation of losses caused by dispersion, the dematerialisation of the economy, the requirement to decrease our reliance on fuels derived from hydrocarbons and the need for management systems that help foster inter-industry collaboration and networks are among the topics covered. The book is split into four sections. First, the various definitions of IE are outlined. Here, important distinctions are made between industrial metabolism and IE. Second, a number of different industrial sectors, including glass, petroleum and electric power, are assessed with regard to the operationalisation of industrial ecology. Eco-industrial Parks and Networks are also analysed. Third, the options for overcoming obstacles that stand in the way of the closing of cycles such as the separation and screening of materials are considered and, finally, a number of implications for the future are assessed. The contributions to Perspectives on Industrial Ecology come from the leading thinkers working in this field at the crossroads between a number of different disciplines: engineering, ecology, bio-economics, geography, the social sciences and law.
Book Synopsis COMMENT DIEU VOIT LE MONDE by : Bertin Nana
Download or read book COMMENT DIEU VOIT LE MONDE written by Bertin Nana and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2007-08-08 with total page 353 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.
