Anthropologie théologale, qui cherche à comprendre l'homme par en haut, persuadé que rien n'est de trop pour en déchiffrer la somptueuse énigme. Certes, depuis M. Merleau-Ponty, grand est le soupçon que l'homme meure au contact de l'Absolu. Est-ce si vrai ? Ne peut-on penser que Dieu et l'homme s'intersignifient ? On aurait là le principe d'une autre sémantique de l'homme, où celui-ci, loin d'être condamné à une dictée qui d'avance le définirait, aurait mandat d'un être créé créateur, ayant de plein droit vocation et devoir d'invention. L'homme serait ainsi, seul de toute la création, celui qui est appelé à ratifier son être (Maïmonide). Mais non point dans la tautologie, qui, comme Narcisse, risque de le fermer sur lui-même et à lui-même, mais dans le bienfait de l'altérité, candidat à l'infinité de l'être, comme aussi au droit et au devoir d'être heureux. Pourquoi ne pas penser alors que l'affirmation de Dieu, loin de déprimer l'homme, le confirme dans son humanité ? Dieu est ici présenté comme la preuve de l'homme. N'était-ce pas déjà en faveur de l'homme, soustrait au hasard, que Platon sollicitait d'introduire le dieu dans la création ? Et que, plus près de nous, Hannah Arendt pensait que la question de l'homme n'est pas moins théologique que la question de Dieu. Nulle surenchère ici, mais simple et confiante proposition, bouteille jetée à la mer.
