Cet ouvrage convie donc à un nouveau professionnalisme dynamique qui ne craigne pas de " remettre en question, innover, prendre des risques (...), imaginer une nouvelle forme d'agriculture égalitaire et participative " afin de donner " la parole aux agriculteurs pauvres " et " d'améliorer durablement leur vie et leurs moyens d'existence ". Il intéressera toutes les personnes, techniciens, chercheurs, animateurs, vulgarisateurs..., travaillant dans les pays du Sud avec des agriculteurs pauvres.
