Book excerpt: The purpose of this project was to promote the health of Grover Park Baptist Church by designing and implementing a biblically-based, reproducible, contextualized servant leadership training curriculum among a test group of volunteer leaders, in order to improve their servant leader comprehension and skills, so that they might in turn better lead their respective ministries. The project encompassed fourteen sessions made up of pre-training, training and post-training elements that were shaped by a researched understanding of the ministry setting, a clear biblical rationale for servant leadership and a sufficient grasp of secular and biblical servant leadership content.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "This project is about training the lay leaders to serve the church and to teach the new converts to make them more mature Christians. The settlement rate of the new comers is very low in this church. It is interpreted [due to their lack of leadership training] that the church members do not have much concern for the new comers. To solve this issue, the researcher planned to train the lay leaders. When they were trained, their concern for the new comers would be lifted up. As a result of this, the settlement rate of the new comers would become high because the lay leaders would nurture the new comers more effectively. In chapter 4, the implementation plan was established. The researcher recruited the church members for the Treatment Group and Control Group. He trained the participants for ten weeks. He tested both groups with the pretest and posttest before and after the training to compare the results. In Chapter 6, the result of the training of the lay leaders was interpreted by explaining the result of the data. As a result of the training, first, their spiritual leadership was increased, second, their personality was developed, third, they became devotional workers for the Lord and the church, fourth, they became the personal resources of the church, and fifth, they became more mature Christians. Thus, it has been supported that training the lay leaders for the new convert class helped the settlement of the new comers and their growth"--Abstract.

Book excerpt: The purpose of this thesis is to develop a strategic process for leader development utilizing small groups at Green Acres Baptist Church in Tyler, Texas. The development of lay leaders will determine the efforts of starting and sustaining small groups and ministry efforts in the local church. The structure of groups and the strategy to develop leaders should be a replicable system formulated within biblical parameters. The biblical research is concentrated toward the methods practiced by Jesus with his disciples. Biblical discipleship is examined for the purpose of assessing adequate organization that cultivate leader development and group multiplication. Effective small group systems will be identified for the purpose of leader development and group multiplication at Green Acres Baptist Church. The efforts of multiplication will cease to occur if leaders are not adequately equipped and trained to begin new small groups. This thesis will give a replicable system of how to organize small groups in the local church as well as a strategy to equip lay leaders to identify and develop other lay leaders for the purpose of starting new groups.
