Download or read book The Little White Box of Karatax written by Sue’z and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2019-03-13 with total page 207 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Once Charlotte discovers the little white box glistening in the sand on the beach across the road from their new home, she and her two older siblings, Chloe and Hudson, come together with the most unassuming couple ever before to be met. These two new friends, by the way, are named Max and Minty and are found to be living inside the little white box, which means they’re only one centimeter tall. Seriously! How astonished are the three children when they realize that Max and Minty, the inhabitants of the little white box, have actually been planning and waiting to be discovered just the way it happened. Together with Max and Minty, they learn to begin channeling their gifts of Karatax awaiting them, and over time, they become acquainted with their new paths. Now although the children are human just like us, Max and Minty are not; they are known as nuumahs. They dwell in a small town named Karrak, along with so many other nuumahs, who have been all together involved in a war that has been raging for at least a millennia. This battle has been waged against an evil foe called suulids, which is the negative of themselves. So just as humans have good and bad folk all around us, so do they, except in Karrak they have an actual name for them. When the children realize they have a major part to play not only by being partners with Max and Minty’s Karatax but also because they’re human, it actually adds to their strength, especially when the Karatax begins to enchant them one by one—beginning with their destinies! Max and Minty continue on with the fight between the nuumahs and the suulids, slowly bringing in these three gifted children to become as powerful as they are. The children hold an ultimate strength of their own against the suulids just by being human, combined with the Karatax awaiting them. Max and Minty finally feel that there’s an end to this perplexing war, with a door opening for these three brave children. This gives them hope!

Book excerpt: SHORTLISTED FOR THE 2018 POLARI PRIZE'Life affirming and triumphant' Mark A. Radcliffe'Vivid and touching... this book left me haunted long after I put it down' Umi SinhaThe heat is oppressive and storms are brewing in Brighton in the summer of 1982. Little Gold, a boyish girl on the brink of adolescence, is struggling with the reality of her broken family and a home descending into chaos. Her only refuge is the tree at the end of her garden.Into her fractured life steps elderly neighbour, Peggy Baxter. The connection between the two is instant, but just when it seems that Little Gold has found solace, outsiders appear who seek to take advantage of her frail family in the worst way possible. In an era when so much is hard to speak aloud, can Little Gold share enough of her life to avert disaster? And can Peggy Baxter, a woman running out of time and with her own secrets to bear, recognise the danger before it’s too late? What Reviewers and Readers Say:‘A tender, beautifully paced and deeply moving debut... Little Gold herself is a wonderful centrepiece... and in Peggy Baxter, Rogers has offered up one of the most engaging heroines I have read in a very long time. This is a book about individual struggle that manages to be both life affirming and triumphant.’ Mark A. Radcliffe, author of Gabriel's Angel‘Such a wonderfully moving and atmospheric novel, full of very real and very touching relationships. A brilliant portrayal of the pain and wonder of leaving behind childhood, beautifully evocative of a Brighton summer in the 1980s.’ Catherine Hall, author of Days of Grace‘Reminiscent of Scout Finch, Little Gold is a great addition to literature’s endearing child characters. Vivid, touching, sad and frightening, this book exposes the dark underbelly of 1980s Brighton and left me haunted long after I put it down.’Umi Sinha, author of Belonging‘A gripping and yet tender novel, and the characters of Peggy Baxter and Little Gold are brilliantly handled. I was rooting for Little Gold from the start, and fascinated and moved by Peggy’s story. Brighton is so vividly depicted, too. It’s a great first novel.’ Bethan Roberts, author of My Policeman‘Opening Allie Rogers’ Little Gold I found myself engrossed in a vibrant, moving tale of one family’s struggle to get by. This is a book about survival, about the pluck and power of a singular child and the fundamental importance of friendship.’ Alison Smith, author of Name All the Animals'Little Gold is a step back in time, into a rich world with complex characters on meaningful inner journeys thatare quietly intriguing.' Book Synopsis Little Star by : John Ajvide Lindqvist
Download or read book Little Star written by John Ajvide Lindqvist and published by Macmillan. This book was released on 2012-10-02 with total page 540 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Establishes Lindqvist as Sweden's Stephen King." --The Washington Post on Harbor John Ajvide Lindqvist has been crowned the heir apparent to Stephen King by numerous sources, and he is heralded around the globe as one of the most spectacularly talented horror writers working today. His first novel, Let the Right One In, is a cult classic that has been made into iconic films in both Sweden and in the United States. His second novel, Handling the Undead, is beloved by horror fans everywhere. His third novel, Harbor, is a masterpiece that draws countless comparisons to Stephen King. Now, with Little Star, his most profoundly unsettling book yet, Lindqvist treads previously unmarked territory. A man finds a baby in the woods, left for dead. He brings the baby home, and he and his wife raise the girl in their basement. When a shocking and catastrophic incident occurs, the couple's son Jerry whisks the girl away to Stockholm to start a new life. There, he enters her in a nationwide singing competition. Another young girl who's never fit in sees the performance on TV, and a spark is struck that will ignite the most terrifying duo in modern fiction. Little Star is an unforgettable portrait of adolescence, a modern-day Carrie for the age of internet bullies, offensive reality television, and overnight You Tube sensations. Chilling, unnerving, and petrifying, Little Star is Lindqvist's most disturbing book to date.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The seven-year-old Mari is playing on the beach outside of the house where she lives. It’s a rainy day in October and mum’s new boyfriend, Petter, is visiting. Mari doesn’t like him. She dreams that her real daddy – she only remembers him from a black and white picture on her nightstand – will one day come to visit. —Daddy? Is that you? Her voice quivered. The last word was barely audible, nothing more than a small, hopeful breath. He nodded, bent down and opened his arms. —Yes, Little Wagtail. Come to daddy. *** There are many examples from real life of young girls held captive by disgusting men. Some of them for years and often in dark cellars in quite ordinary residential areas where no one knows what’s going on inside their neighbours’ four walls. Could the same thing happen in Kodal, the peaceful, small village right outside of Sandefjord in Norway?
