Book excerpt: Twenty-plus years in the writing, and for an additional ten years, this gut-wrenching, heartwarming story has been silently biding its time, awaiting a channel for expression. A compelling story of young boys bound by faith, courage, blood, sweat, and tears, and how that bonding created the brave young men they became. Hopefully, all who read this account will feel the deep emotions of terror, disappointment, frustration, laughter, love, peace, and joy experienced by the author during his service as a radioman/gunner on a B17G during World War II. Some of the stories contained in this manuscript have never been published or made public. Stationed in the European Theater of Operations in Framlingham, England, Mr. Richardson, USAAF, 8th AF, 390th Bomb Group (H), 571st Squadron, was the recipient of numerous major awards and citations, including Distinguished Flying Cross; Air Medal with 4 Oak-Leaf Clusters; 2 Presidential Unit Citations; Russian Medal of Victory in the Great Patriotic War (on behalf of Boris Yeltsin); Certificate in Recognition of Contribution/Service in liberating France and participation in the Invasion of Normandy, signed by French Secretary of Defense John-Pierre Messeret; French Jubilee of Liberty Medal; and French Legion of Honor Medal.

Book excerpt: NFL linebacker, speaker, podcaster, and humanitarian Sam Acho gives a blueprint for taking off our masks and living lives of genuine authenticity. Most of us hide. We play small and don't live up to our full potential. Sam Acho was one of those people. As an NFL linebacker, for example, he earned his MBA but told no one because he was afraid of what people might think if they found out that he cared about things that weren't "normal" for his profession. After many years of hiding himself, the person he had become had no connection to the real Sam. Only when he lost a friend and a mentor did he realize he was doing it all wrong--just like many us do, when we try to become someone we're not. All the while, we ignore the unique gifts and talents and personality we truly possess. But there is another way of living: Let the world see you. Your quirks, your passions, and your inner desires were not given to you by accident. And the world needs your gifts. In Let the World See You, Sam Acho shares lessons from his own life as well as stories from others to reveal how you can overcome your fears and discover your true selves. Being the real you pays big. No one else has what you have. No one else can share what you share. Let the World See You helps crack the shell of people who are in hiding and reveals the benefits of a lifestyle lived on purpose.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As a thirteen year old boy on an East Texas farm, Fred M. Allen read a book about explorer/missionary David Livingstone and was mesmerized. Many years later, he stood at the edge of the mighty Victoria Falls and gazed upon a statue of Livingstone. By then, Allen had spent a lifetime in service for the Lord. From Cotton Fields to Mission Fields reveals the experiences that led Allen to make it his mission to spread God’s Word, beginning with his boyhood in Texas and extending to his decades of work as a missionary in Zambia. Allen began writing his stories for family and friends but realized how much his words could inspire others, after being given a column in a weekly newspaper. Then his brother, Duane Allen of the musical group “The Oak Ridge Boys,” offered to share his stories on social media. Over and over, people asked, “Are these stories in a book?” In this inspiring Christian memoir, Allen looks back on his life, collecting those stories in one place. His experiences highlight the importance of faith, hard work, and walking the path that God intended.

Book excerpt: This story is about a man named Shep, Im not sure this is his Christian name but everybody calls him Shep. Shep has a horse named Beulah, we think she's called after an old girlfriend back East. Now this old horse and Shep are a lot alike always getting into trouble of some kind, one good thing about Beulah is she's very fast. Shep is a pretty good shot unfortunately he's also good at getting shot at, he has four bullet scars, one arrow scar plus a little bit of his left ear shot off, he has reddish blond hair, blue eyes, six feet tall and one hundred eight pounds, plus a slight limp from being thrown by Beulah to many times. One good thing is when she throws him she won't run off, she is more apt to come back and bite him, they make a good pair in one respect they're both ornery. Shep is a drifting cowboy he likes to gamble some; but is not very good at it, that is a reason he is still a cowboy. His last job that he had been was below Tucson and he and the foreman didn't see eye to eye on anything especially when it came to the bosses daughter Ella, she's about half wildcat and the other half tease. Nobody knows for sure if she likes either one of them, knowing she likes to see the good fight. Shep oh did I forget the foreman? His name is Sam Ivey, now Sam five foot ten inches he weighs two hundred pounds and solid as a rock though not a good fighter he was able to take a lot of punishment and he would be a good hand in any outfit. Shep finds itself with a strange turn of events in a beautiful mountain range, from a carefree cowboy to a purpose able life when he joins up with an old friend named Slim.

Book excerpt: Let’s Cross Before Dark... A History of the Ferries, Fords and River Crossings of Texas The state of Texas claims over 12,000 named rivers and streams stretching approximately 80,000 linear miles within its boundaries. In this book, Bill Winsor identifies and locates over 550 named river crossings within the state that once served as vital destinations for Native Americans, European explorers, and Mexican and American soldiers and colonists. Winsor has catalogued their origins and histories. Included in the work are maps of major rivers and their crossings as well as select images of early ferry operations of Texas. In addition to an alpha index of the crossings, the 625-page book presents an in-depth examination of the roles principal rivers and their crossings assumed in the framing of Texas history. Each of its fourteen chapters explores the founding of these various sites and the characters that brought them to life. This information, under one cover, presents an incomparable resource for future generations to better understand and appreciate the historical relevance of these vanishing theaters of history.

Book excerpt: As mass media pushes a give me, give me mentality, many Christian parents struggle with helping their children understand the importance of missions and missional living. After all, with all of life’s demands, how can anyone find the time to teach their children about missions? In Missions Moments 2, Mitzi Eaker, mother and children’s missions education expert, provides parents with an easy-to-use teaching resource that fits within today’s busy schedule. Missions Moments 2 is a convenient tool to guide parents as they help their children develop a proper biblical worldview. Parents will find 52 weeks of 5-minute missions messages each paired with a 15-minute application activity for children. Each lesson is written in a simple style so that parents can adapt the message to their children’s ages, maturity levels, etc. A Bible verse to memorize is also included for each week. And finally there’s a challenging “Make It Home” section that provides ideas for how to incorporate the week’s message into the life of the whole family. Ideal for parents of elementary school-age children, Missions Moments 2 will bring your family together around God’s call to be the light of the world. Packed with a year’s worth of messages and service activities, you and your children won’t be the same after finishing this journey.
