Book excerpt: Now, my friend, if we do not know what to eat or what to drink, how can we do all to the glory of God? God has seen to it that the best of things in life are free and simple. Sunshine and fresh air are free and easily accessible and yet, absolutely necessary to life. Love and friendship cost nothing, but are essential to joy and happiness. The other reason I write this book is because for ten years, its truth has worked in my own life and ministry. After thirty-five years of sickness, two operations, treatment for ulcers and many lost days, weeks, and months, it is a sin for me to get sick when there is a way to stay well. We've just gone through an epidemic and scourge of flu, second to that of World War I. With all the doctors and hospitals and miracle drugs, there still seems to be no cure for the common cold and flu and pneumonia. Think of the loss of time of pupils and parents and also the expense for medicine and hospital bills! As I begin the first chapter in this book, I ask you to grant me two requests. First, give me an open mind, and second, give me credit for sincerely trying to write a book that will be practical and helpful to you and your whole family. Someone has said that success is learning to do what you don't like to do. Well, after this book is written, I'm bound to be a success!

Book excerpt: The original idea of the Board of Directors of the Roloff Evangelistic Enterprises was to print a book covering the last years of Lester Roloff's life. Then, the realization came that such a book would not be clearly understood by the readers unless they were close to the ministry or had read Mrs. Roloff's earlier book which was titled Lester Roloff: Living by Faith. Lester Roloff's life quest was to discover and emulate the ministry, message, and methods of Jesus Christ. To that end, he prayed much, studied diligently, and memorizd volumes from the Word of God. God honored his faith. - Introduction.

Book excerpt: For thirty years Randy Alcorn has been encouraging people-young and old-to pursue the rewards of sexual purity. Too often we settle for a compromised Christianity that's just a baptized version of the world's sad existence, rather than the abundant life to which God calls us. This book deals with - raising children to embrace sexual purity - providing an example of purity in the home - protecting purity in dating (at any age) - and maintaining purity in marriage. Biblical, practical, and concise, The Purity Principle is a one-stop handbook for individuals, families and churches. Some people have given up on purity. Some have never tried. Bestselling author Randy Alcorn shows us why, in this culture of impurity, the stakes are so high—and what we can do to experience the freedom of purity. Impurity will always destroy us; purity always leads to higher pleasures! Choose wisely. Let the insights of this amazing book—written for old and young, married and single—help you gain your footing on the path to truly lasting joy.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is a book of hope at a time when just about everyone but Marvin Olasky has lost hope. The topic is poverty and the underclass. The profound truth that Marvin Olasky forces us to confront is that the problems of the underclass are not caused by poverty. Some of them are exacerbated by poverty, but we know that they need not be caused by poverty, for poverty has been the condition of the vast majority of human communities since the dawn of history, and they have for the most part been communities of stable families, nurtured children, and low crime. It is wrong to think that writing checks will end the problems of the underclass, or even reduce them. - Preface.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In his book, The Great Omission, missionary Jon Nelms "tells it like it is" by exposing the failures in missions and the reasons behind them as he leads the reader to logical, Biblical, and proven solutions that, if followed, will allow this to be the first generation to fulfill the Lord's Great Commission since it was assigned some 2,000 years ago. Drawing from the personal stories gleaned from his 24 years of missionary work around the world, Jon will stir, motivate, and may even upset you. In doing so, he will challenge your conceptions and lead you to consider God's plan and methods that have been laid aside to perpetuate the unsuccessful, unbiblical methods that have handicapped missionaries for centuries. It is not likely that you can even get past the preface without your concept of missions being both challenged and changed.

Book excerpt: The New York Times bestselling author of The Prodigal Prophet uncovers the essential message of Jesus, locked inside his most familiar parable. Newsweek called renowned minister Timothy Keller "a C.S. Lewis for the twenty-first century" in a feature on his first book, The Reason for God. In that book, he offered a rational explanation of why we should believe in God. Now, in The Prodigal God, Keller takes his trademark intellectual approach to understanding Christianity and uses the parable of the prodigal son to reveal an unexpected message of hope and salvation. Within that parable Jesus reveals God's prodigal grace toward both the irreligious and the moralistic. This book will challenge both the devout and skeptics to see Christianity in a whole new way.
