Download or read book Petri Nets written by Jean-Marie Proth and published by . This book was released on 1996 with total page 312 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The move of manufacturing systems towards automation, integration and flexibility has increased the importance of the design phase in the life cycle of a manufacturing system. Petri Nets are the only set of tools which can support functional specification, modelling and evaluation of the future behaviour of the manufacturing system. This book is dedicated to the use of Petri Nets for specifying, modelling and evaluating the performances of manufacturing systems. The first part of the book presents the theory of Petri Nets, covering most of the recent developments. Applications of Petri Nets to modelling, evaluation and management of manufacturing systems are addressed in the second part. Numerous worked examples and solved exercises are included. Specific algorithms for planning and scheduling are provided. This book will be of great interest to students, factory engineers, managers and designers in both the academic and industrial worlds.

Book Synopsis Manufacturing Systems: Modelling, Management and Control 1997 by : Peter Kopacek
Download or read book Manufacturing Systems: Modelling, Management and Control 1997 written by Peter Kopacek and published by Pergamon. This book was released on 1997-07-02 with total page 478 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The IFAC TC on Manufacturing, Modelling, Management and Control (MIM) was founded on the IFAC World Congress Sydney 1993. The goals of this workshop concerned the development, comparison and classification of formal models in the field of Computer Integrated Manufacturing Systems in a descriptive as well as prescriptive way. Computer Integrated Manufacturing Systems are able to integrate optimization methods, simulation models, procedures and knowledge-based tools. The target for the workshop activities were related to the specification of requirements for new models which are used in simulating and designing manufacturing management and control strategies, including discrete-event and continuous representations. Technical areas of interest, at the system level, included: tools for plant layout design, process planning, production planning and control. Technical areas of interest, at the component level, included: models for functional description of flexible manufacturing and assembly systems oriented to production activity control, process supervision and maintenance.
Book Synopsis Optimization of Logistics by : Alice Yalaoui
Download or read book Optimization of Logistics written by Alice Yalaoui and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2012-12-13 with total page 226 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book aims to help engineers, Masters students and young researchers to understand and gain a general knowledge of logistic systems optimization problems and techniques, such as system design, layout, stock management, quality management, lot-sizing or scheduling. It summarizes the evaluation and optimization methods used to solve the most frequent problems. In particular, the authors also emphasize some recent and interesting scientific developments, as well as presenting some industrial applications and some solved instances from real-life cases. Performance evaluation tools (Petri nets, the Markov process, discrete event simulation, etc.) and optimization techniques (branch-and-bound, dynamic programming, genetic algorithms, ant colony optimization, etc.) are presented first. Then, new optimization methods are presented to solve systems design problems, layout problems and buffer-sizing optimization. Forecasting methods, inventory optimization, packing problems, lot-sizing quality management and scheduling are presented with examples in the final chapters.
This book was released on 1995 with total page 292 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Synopsis Industrial Objectives and Industrial Performance by : Lamia Berrah
Download or read book Industrial Objectives and Industrial Performance written by Lamia Berrah and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2018-02-14 with total page 215 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book aims to provide a synthesis of work and ideas done by our team over the last fifteen years in the field of information processing for expression of industrial performance. The statement of objectives on the one hand and the calculation of the other performances are discussed, with the search for the explanation of the link between these two basic steps of an industrial improvement. Beyond the synthetic and typological character of this study, the originality of this work lies in the consideration of the temporal dimension of the objectives, and spread on performance expressions. A fuzzy processing and multi-criteria aggregations time information that can be quantitative, qualitative or symbolic are proposed, in line with industrial practice and literature in the field of performance management.
Book Synopsis People and Computers XV — Interaction without Frontiers by : Ann Blandford
Download or read book People and Computers XV — Interaction without Frontiers written by Ann Blandford and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2011-06-27 with total page 578 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In 2001 AFIHM and the British HCI Group combined their annual conferences, bringing together the best features of each organisation's separate conference series, and providing a special opportunity for the French- and English-speaking HCI communities to interact. This volume contains the full papers presented at IHM-HCI 2001, the 15th annual conference of the British HCI group, a specialist group of the British Computer Society and the 14th annual conference of the Association Francophone d'interaction Homme-Machine, an independent association for any French-speaking person who is interested in Human-Computer Interaction. Human-Computer Interaction is a discipline well-suited to such a multi-linguistic and multi-cultural conference since it brings together researchers and practitioners from a variety of disciplines with very different ways of thinking and working. As a community we are already used to tackling the challenges of working across such boundaries, dealing with the problems and taking advantage of the richness of the resulting insights: interaction without frontiers. The papers presented in this volume cover all the main areas of HCI research, but also focus on considering the challenges of new applications addressing the following themes: - Enriching HCI by crossing national, linguistic and cultural boundaries; - Achieving greater co-operation between disciplines to deliver usable, useful and exciting design solutions; - Benefiting from experience gained in other application areas; - Transcending interaction constraints through the use of novel technologies; - Supporting mobile users.
