Book excerpt: Bordeaux Legends traces the 500-year history of the five world-renowned Bordeaux wines known as "First Growths"--four crowned in 1855, and Mouton Rothschild joining them more than a century later. Wine educator and journalist Jane Anson presents the fascinating story of what it means to be a first-growth wine, what makes these wines so extraordinary, and what that means to the legions of merchants, dealers, and wine lovers who hold them in such high esteem. For the first time, this book brings the estate's separate stories together into one sweeping saga, filled with revealing anecdotes and lively historical detail. With a foreword by Academy Award-winning director and winery owner Francis Ford Coppola and stunning new photographs, this book makes it clear why these five wines are considered among the very best in the world. Praise for Bordeaux Legends "The book is full of the romance of these iconic chateaus, but it also offers interesting details about the business of running their global empires. Ultimately, Anson's book is a look at the complexities of producing the wines that many consider to be among the world's best." --The San Jose Mercury News online

Download or read book Legends of Growth written by Daniel Richmond and published by Page Publishing Inc. This book was released on 2022-11-03 with total page 374 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The kin, a scaled species, rules the continent. They have a problem: a plague runs riot over the continent. The kin die and two species are in their place. Dragons and half-kin. The half-kin, gray or pale species, are either killed or forced to serve in the king's guard. Their loyalty is absolute. Two come out in prominence: Del and Chow. Del is a boy of eight and the equal of many masters in the spellweavers, an order that investigates nearly everything, from worldly occupations to magic, martial arts, and war. Chow, a member of three orders of the spellweavers, is the leader of a rebel group. He has the plague. Del, as a boy of eight, cannot stand the spellweavers. They live on a mountain. He has been ordered not to leave until the fifteenth year. Then trouble begins. The plague spreads. After, the king's new weapon turns; the dragons want power and, most importantly, food. Heroes from the continent survive. Another empire eyes this continent with greedy eyes. Their leader wants to conquer it and spread his empire. The plague has no effect on those from this empire. No one knows why. Del and the other heroes must strive to save the continent from being killed by the rampaging dragons, whose power isn't the only problem--their numbers are as well. This new empire may be the hope or the threat they fear.

Book Synopsis By Royal Appointment by : David Rogers
Download or read book By Royal Appointment written by David Rogers and published by Biteback Publishing. This book was released on 2015-07-21 with total page 232 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Privy Council is a centuries-old institution - yet, for an entity with such extensive influence over Britain's history, we know relatively little about it. What exactly does it do? To whom is it accountable? Just how much power does it hold over us? Some say it has no power at all, although you might not agree if you'd been sentenced to death in a former British overseas territory that still used the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council as its court of appeal; or if you were a lecturer having a row with your college, where the University Chancellor was a member of the royal family. Or, indeed, if you were a Prime Minister trying to establish a Royal Charter to control the press. Traditionally an advisory body to the sovereign, the Privy Council's chequered past is full of scandals and secrecy, plots and counterplots - and while it may no longer have the authority to command a beheading, its reach continues to extend into both parliamentary and public life. In By Royal Appointment, David Rogers examines it all, taking us on a fascinating, anecdote-filled odyssey through the history of one of England's oldest and most secretive government bodies.

This is about Sanrami's journey, her meditations, mystical experiences, adventures and spiritual awakenings. Through meditations, the Heart Awakening Project and Biblical Studies, Sanrami has come to be aware of the synchronicity threading within each moment, finding the deeper levels of the story and purpose of all life on earth. The story shows us how when we open our hearts and minds, the soul will guide us to envision the true purpose of our existence. We will find the "Ageless Wisdom," the mystery of our life.
