This book was released on 2018-03-07T00:00:00-05:00 with total page 242 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.
Book Synopsis The Palgrave Handbook of Gender, Sexuality, and Canadian Politics by : Manon Tremblay
Download or read book The Palgrave Handbook of Gender, Sexuality, and Canadian Politics written by Manon Tremblay and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2020-11-20 with total page 539 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Palgrave Handbook of Gender, Sexuality, and Canadian Politics offers the first and only handbook in the field of Canadian politics that uses 'gender' (which it interprets broadly, as inclusive of sex, sexualities, and other intersecting identities) as its category of analysis. Its premise is that political actors’ identities frame how Canadian politics is thought, told, and done; in turn, Canadian politics, as a set of ideas, state institutions and decision-making processes, and civil society mobilizations, does and redoes gender. Following the standard structure of mainstream introductory Canadian politics textbooks, this handbook is divided into four sections (ideologies, institutions, civil society, and public policy) each of which contains several chapters on topics commonly taught in Canadian politics classes. The originality of the handbook lies in its approach: each chapter reviews the basics of a given topic from the perspective of gendered/sexualized and other intersectional identities. Such an approach makes the handbook the only one of its kind in Canadian Politics.
Book Synopsis Adaptiveness: Changing Earth System Governance by : Riyanti Djalante
Download or read book Adaptiveness: Changing Earth System Governance written by Riyanti Djalante and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2021-07-08 with total page 225 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Rapid and transformational actions are ever more urgently needed to achieve a just, resilient, and ecologically sustainable global society, as envisioned and supported by the Sustainable Development Goals. Moreover, dynamic governance approaches are vital for addressing changing and uncertain conditions. At many levels, governance needs to be responsive and flexible - in one word - adaptive. This book provides a state-of-the-art review of the conceptual development of adaptiveness as a key concept in the environmental governance literature, complemented by applications from global, regional, and national levels. It reviews the politics of adaptiveness, investigates which governance processes foster adaptiveness, and discusses how, when and why adaptiveness influences earth system governance. It is a timely synthesis for students, researchers and practitioners interested in environmental governance, sustainability and social change processes. This is one of a series of publications associated with the Earth System Governance Project. For more publications, see www.cambridge.org/earth-system-governance.

Download or read book Le gouvernement des ressources naturelles: science et territorialités de l'État québécois, 1867–1939 written by Stéphane Castonguay and published by UBC Press. This book was released on 2021-04-15 with total page 238 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Government of Natural Resources explores scientific and technical activity in Quebec from Confederation until the eve of the Second World War. Scientific and technical personnel are an often quiet presence within the state, but they play an integral role. At the turn of the twentieth century, the provincial government created geology, forestry, fishery, and agronomy services. These new services drew from recently established university technical programs to amass a corps of skilled employees to support their mission: exploiting resources and occupying territory. Stéphane Castonguay traces the history of mining, logging, hunting, fishing, and agriculture in Quebec to reveal how territorial and environmental transformations thus became a tool of government. By helping to define and shape such interventions, scientific activity contributed to state formation and expanded administrative capacity. The lessons that this thoughtful reconceptualization of resource development offers reach well beyond provincial borders.

Book Synopsis Fonder les sciences du territoire by : Pierre Beckouche
Download or read book Fonder les sciences du territoire written by Pierre Beckouche and published by KARTHALA Editions. This book was released on 2012 with total page 318 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.
