März 2005 „Child Poverty in Rich Countries 2005“ zeigt, dass die Zunahme der Kinderarmut in Deutschland mit 2,7 Prozentpunkten seit 1990 höher ist als in den meisten Industrienationen. Diese Tatsache kann ich selbst auch durch meine Beobachtungen in meinem letzten Praktikum im Kindergarten bestätigen, und ich konnte dort beobachten, dass zwei Kinder des Öfteren sowohl zum Frühstück als auch später zum Mittagessen nur ungesundes Essen zur Verfügung hatten. Es handelte sich in der Regel nur um Brote mit Nutellaaufstrich oder um Süßigkeiten. An manchen Tagen brachten sie nichts zum Essen mit und hofften, von dem Es-sen ihres Freundes etwas zu erhalten. Auch berichtete die Erzieherin aus der Kindertageseinrichtung, dass es immer wieder Fälle gibt, dass z.B. Eltern den Mittagessenbeitrag nicht bezahlen können, da es Eltern gibt, die nicht erwerbstätig sind, und sogar auch solche Eltern, die noch nie gearbeitet haben. Auch wenn man es in Bezug auf einen Wohlstandsstaat nicht für möglich hält, so ist es dennoch eine Tatsache, dass Kinder heute in Deutschland Armut leben und deshalb von anderen wohlhabenden Kindern ausgegrenzt und diskriminiert werden. Doch eigentlich sollten sie die Möglichkeit erhalten, zu spielen, sich zu bilden und sich auf das spätere Leben vorzubereiten, da sie für Deutschland die Zukunft bedeuten. Die Gesellschaft muss sich bewusst werden, dass aus gesundheitlichen und psychischen Schäden in der Kindheit später Folgen für das ganze Leben der Kinder resultieren können.
