Book Synopsis Magnitude and Delay Approximation of 1-D and 2-D Digital Filters by : Belle A. Shenoi
Download or read book Magnitude and Delay Approximation of 1-D and 2-D Digital Filters written by Belle A. Shenoi and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 257 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The most outstanding feature of this book is its treatment of the design of filters that approximate a constant group delay, and both the prescribed magnitude and group delay response of one-dimensional as well as two-dimensional digital filters. It thus fills a gap in the literature, that has almost exclusively dealt with the magnitude response of the filter transfer function until now. Contains many of the important results that have only recently appeared in professional journals.

Book Synopsis Identification of Dynamic Systems by : Rolf Isermann
Download or read book Identification of Dynamic Systems written by Rolf Isermann and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2010-11-22 with total page 705 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Precise dynamic models of processes are required for many applications, ranging from control engineering to the natural sciences and economics. Frequently, such precise models cannot be derived using theoretical considerations alone. Therefore, they must be determined experimentally. This book treats the determination of dynamic models based on measurements taken at the process, which is known as system identification or process identification. Both offline and online methods are presented, i.e. methods that post-process the measured data as well as methods that provide models during the measurement. The book is theory-oriented and application-oriented and most methods covered have been used successfully in practical applications for many different processes. Illustrative examples in this book with real measured data range from hydraulic and electric actuators up to combustion engines. Real experimental data is also provided on the Springer webpage, allowing readers to gather their first experience with the methods presented in this book. Among others, the book covers the following subjects: determination of the non-parametric frequency response, (fast) Fourier transform, correlation analysis, parameter estimation with a focus on the method of Least Squares and modifications, identification of time-variant processes, identification in closed-loop, identification of continuous time processes, and subspace methods. Some methods for nonlinear system identification are also considered, such as the Extended Kalman filter and neural networks. The different methods are compared by using a real three-mass oscillator process, a model of a drive train. For many identification methods, hints for the practical implementation and application are provided. The book is intended to meet the needs of students and practicing engineers working in research and development, design and manufacturing.

Book Synopsis Introduction to Digital Signal Processing and Filter Design by : B. A. Shenoi
Download or read book Introduction to Digital Signal Processing and Filter Design written by B. A. Shenoi and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2005-10-19 with total page 453 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A practical and accessible guide to understanding digital signal processing Introduction to Digital Signal Processing and Filter Design was developed and fine-tuned from the author's twenty-five years of experience teaching classes in digital signal processing. Following a step-by-step approach, students and professionals quickly master the fundamental concepts and applications of discrete-time signals and systems as well as the synthesis of these systems to meet specifications in the time and frequency domains. Striking the right balance between mathematical derivations and theory, the book features: * Discrete-time signals and systems * Linear difference equations * Solutions by recursive algorithms * Convolution * Time and frequency domain analysis * Discrete Fourier series * Design of FIR and IIR filters * Practical methods for hardware implementation A unique feature of this book is a complete chapter on the use of a MATLAB(r) tool, known as the FDA (Filter Design and Analysis) tool, to investigate the effect of finite word length and different formats of quantization, different realization structures, and different methods for filter design. This chapter contains material of practical importance that is not found in many books used in academic courses. It introduces students in digital signal processing to what they need to know to design digital systems using DSP chips currently available from industry. With its unique, classroom-tested approach, Introduction to Digital Signal Processing and Filter Design is the ideal text for students in electrical and electronic engineering, computer science, and applied mathematics, and an accessible introduction or refresher for engineers and scientists in the field.
Book Synopsis Digital Image Processing Techniques by : Michael P. Ekstrom
Download or read book Digital Image Processing Techniques written by Michael P. Ekstrom and published by Academic Press. This book was released on 2012-12-02 with total page 389 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Digital Image Processing Techniques is a state-of-the-art review of digital image processing techniques, with emphasis on the processing approaches and their associated algorithms. A canonical set of image processing problems that represent the class of functions typically required in most image processing applications is presented. Each chapter broadly addresses the problem being considered; the best techniques for this particular problem and how they work; their strengths and limitations; and how the techniques are actually implemented as well as their computational aspects. Comprised of eight chapters, this volume begins with a discussion on processing techniques associated with the following tasks: image enhancement, restoration, detection and estimation, reconstruction, and analysis, along with image data compression and image spectral estimation. The second section describes hardware and software systems for digital image processing. Aspects of commercially available systems that combine both processing and display functions are considered, as are future prospects for their technological and architectural evolution. The specifics of system design trade-offs are explicitly presented in detail. This book will be of interest to students, practitioners, and researchers in various disciplines including digital signal processing, computer science, statistical communications theory, control systems, and applied physics.
