Book excerpt: El sector de la construcción es uno de los más importantes en el país debido a su aporte significativo en el PIB. Las cuentas nacionales realizadas por el DANE muestran que para el segundo trimestre del año 2015 la economía colombiana creció 3% anual. Siendo el sector de la construcción el más destacado con una variación del 8.7% anual. En el Anexo 1, se presenta una gráfica realizada por el DANE en el cual se puede apreciar el aporte de cada sector en el PIB (CAMACOL & SENA, 2015). Sin embargo, este sector es uno de los que presenta más atraso en cuanto al desarrollo de medidas que permitan ejecutarlo de manera más eficiente. Debido a esto, en el país son pocos los proyectos de construcción que terminan en el tiempo y presupuesto programados durante la fase de diseño y estructuración del proyecto. Según CAMACOL, para el 2015 cerca del 70% de los proyectos de construcción realizados en el país incumplieron su cronograma de ejecución y el 85% de estos presentaron sobrecostos en sus fases constructivas. Tras una revisión bibliográfica exhaustiva se encontró que los principales factores asociados a este problema son: Primero, falta de comunicación entre los actores involucrados tanto en el proceso constructivo como en el de diseño, esto trae como consecuencias reprocesos, pérdidas de tiempo y dinero. Segundo, falta de planificación por parte de los actores involucrados, normalmente se exige a los contratistas que reporten el avance semanal y este resulta ser un control superficial sobre la ejecución de la obra y el presupuesto el cuál no tiene como norte la ruta crítica del proyecto. Finalmente, la descoordinación entre áreas, normalmente los actores involucrados se especializan en un área específica y trabajan con el fin de construir la mayor cantidad posible en el menor tiempo y así recibir mayor remuneración.--Tomado del Formato de Documento de Grado.
