Book Synopsis Nonlinear Analysis of Structures (1997) by : Muthukrishnan Sathyamoorthy
Download or read book Nonlinear Analysis of Structures (1997) written by Muthukrishnan Sathyamoorthy and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2017-11-22 with total page 548 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Nonlinear Analysis of Structures presents a complete evaluation of the nonlinear static and dynamic behavior of beams, rods, plates, trusses, frames, mechanisms, stiffened structures, sandwich plates, and shells. These elements are important components in a wide variety of structures and vehicles such as spacecraft and missiles, underwater vessels and structures, and modern housing. Today's engineers and designers must understand these elements and their behavior when they are subjected to various types of loads. Coverage includes the various types of nonlinearities, stress-strain relations and the development of nonlinear governing equations derived from nonlinear elastic theory. This complete guide includes both mathematical treatment and real-world applications, with a wealth of problems and examples to support the text. Special topics include a useful and informative chapter on nonlinear analysis of composite structures, and another on recent developments in symbolic computation. Designed for both self-study and classroom instruction, Nonlinear Analysis of Structures is also an authoritative reference for practicing engineers and scientists. One of the world's leaders in the study of nonlinear structural analysis, Professor Sathyamoorthy has made significant research contributions to the field of nonlinear mechanics for twenty-seven years. His foremost contribution to date has been the development of a unique transverse shear deformation theory for plates undergoing large amplitude vibrations and the examination of multiple mode solutions for plates. In addition to his notable research, Professor Sathyamoorthy has also developed and taught courses in the field at universities in India, Canada, and the United States.
Book Synopsis The Tracer Gas Method of Determining the Charging Efficiency of Two-stroke-cycle Diesel Engines by : P. H. Schweitzer
Download or read book The Tracer Gas Method of Determining the Charging Efficiency of Two-stroke-cycle Diesel Engines written by P. H. Schweitzer and published by . This book was released on 1942 with total page 564 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A convenient method has been developed for determining the scavenging efficiency or the charging efficiency of two-stroke-cycle engines. The method consists of introducing a suitable tracer gas into the inlet air of the running engine and measuring chemically its concentration both in the inlet and exhaust gas. Monomethylamine CH3NH2 was found suitable for the purpose as it burns almost completely during combustion, whereas the "short-circuited" portion does not burn at all and can be determined quantitatively in the exhaust. The method was tested both on four-stroke and on two-stroke engines and is considered accurate within 1 percent.

Book Synopsis Charts for Rapid Analysis of 45 Degrees Strain-rosette Data by : S. S. Manson
Download or read book Charts for Rapid Analysis of 45 Degrees Strain-rosette Data written by S. S. Manson and published by . This book was released on 1944 with total page 762 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Charts are presented for rapidly determining the principal strains and stresses, the maximum shear strain and stress, and the orientation of principal axes for data for 45 degrees strain rosettes. The charts may be used for analyzing the conventional data consisting of strains measured along three gage lines 45 degrees apart, but their application is more direct if the rosette data are obtained by means of special circuits that require the use of four gages 45 degrees apart.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Flat and Corrugated Diaphragm Design Handbook provides simple, useful methods for diaphragmdesign, performance evaluation, and material selection. The text is a practical andcomplete guide to solving on-the-job problems faced by instrument designers; structural engineersdesigning plates, panels, and floors; and mechanical engineers designing flexural pivots, couplings, and elastic elements.A leading design engineer has written this authoritative reference for the benefit of his colleaguesin the engineering community. Each chapter is user-oriented and features clear, stepby-step techniques which are easily translated into improved diaphragm design. The text includesa simple algebraic presentation of performance characteristics, and computer results ofspecific shapes, profiles, and corrugation depths. Special topics, such as the use of diaphragmsas pressure summing devices and the design of semiconductor diaphragms for solid state transducers, receive outstanding coverage in this book. Each discussion contains many detailed examplesand illustrations.Flat and Corrugated Diaphragm Design Handbook is a vital addition to both the workbenchand the library of every practicing design engineer. This volume is also an excelJent textbookfor a course on instrument design and application for senior-level engineering students.

Download or read book Systems Modeling and Simulation written by Koji Koyamada and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2007-07-05 with total page 472 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Asia Simulation Conference 2006 (JSST 2006) was aimed at exploring challenges in methodologies for modeling, control and computation in simu lation, and their applications in social, economic, and financial fields as well as established scientific and engineering solutions. The conference was held in Tokyo from October 30 to November 1, 2006, and included keynote speeches presented by technology and industry leaders, technical sessions, organized sessions, poster sessions, and vendor exhibits. It was the seventh annual inter national conference on system simulation and scientific computing, which is organized by the Japan Society for Simulation Technology (JSST), the Chi nese Association for System Simulation (CASS), and the Korea Society for Simulation (KSS). For the conference, all submitted papers were refereed by the international technical program committee, each paper receiving at least two independent reviews. After careful reviews by the committee, 65 papers from 143 submis sions were selected for oral presentation. This volume includes the keynote speakers' papers along with the papers presented at the oral sessions and the organized sessions. As a result, we are publishing 87 papers for the conference in this volume. In addition to the scientific tracts presented, the conference featured keynote presentations by five invited speakers. We are grateful to them for accepting our invitation and for their presentations. We also would like to express our gratitude to all contributors, reviewers, technical program conmiittee members, and organizing committee members who made the conference very successful.

Book Synopsis Normal-pressure Tests of Circular Plates with Clamped Edges by : Albert E. McPherson
Download or read book Normal-pressure Tests of Circular Plates with Clamped Edges written by Albert E. McPherson and published by . This book was released on 1942 with total page 584 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A fixture is described for making normal-pressure tests of flat plates 5 inches in diameter in which particular care was taken to obtain rigid clamping at the edges. Results are give for 19 plates, ranging in thickness from 0.015 to 0.072 inch. The center deflections and the extreme-fiber stresses at low pressures were found to agree with theoretical values; the center deflections at high pressures were 4 to 12 percent greater than the theoretical values. Empirical curves are derived of the pressure for the beginning of permanent set as a function of the dimensions of the plate and the tensile properties of the material.
