Book excerpt: Du fait de la démocratisation et la rationalisation des protocoles implantaires, la discipline a connu un fort accroissement ces dernières années. Cette solution est considérée actuellement comme une solution fiable sur le long terme. Depuis quelques années, comme il peut y en avoir sur les dents naturelles, les implants présentent des pertes de stabilité de l'os crestale péri-implantaire. De nouvelles entités pathologiques ont vu le jour : les péri-implantites. La péri-implantite se définit comme un processus inflammatoire affectant les tissus de soutien autour d'un implant ostéo-intégré en fonction, induisant la formation d'une poche péri-implantaire avec une perte osseuse marginale. Cette dernière pose un réel problème de santé publique puisque de nombreux patients en sont atteints et que les praticiens n'y sont pas vraiment préparés. Différentes formes de traitements ont été envisagées notamment la thérapeutique chimique locale par antiseptiques et éventuellement systémique par antibiotiques, débridement mécanique et actes chirurgicaux selon la gravité des signes cliniques et radiographiques. Il est intéressant de se demander : Comment les agents anti-infectieux vont-ils agir lorsqu'on est confronté à une péri-implantite ? Quels bénéfices obtient-on lors de l'utilisation d'agents anti-infectieux dans les traitements des périimplantites ? Le but de ce travail est de procéder à une analyse de la littérature, de l'intérêt fondé de l'utilisation d'agents anti-infectieux comme traitement adjuvant dans la gestion de cette pathologie.
