Download or read book International Relations in Europe written by Knud Erik Jørgensen and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2006-04-18 with total page 304 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A new and illuminating critical examination of international relations in Europe. This new volume presents all of the state of the art thinking, focusing particularly on international relations theory and theoretical debates in Western and Central European countries. The contributors seek to strengthen knowledge about different ways of cultivating the discipline; to intensify pan-European communication concerning IR theory; to contribute to improving the quality of theorizing; and finally to consider future directions for the discipline in Europe. The main issues addressed include: the historical development of the discipline; factors driving IR theorizing; the institutional and cultural context of theorizing; 'homegrown' theory-building vs. theory import; patterns of traditional and new discourse; and the diversity of disciplinary traditions.

Download or read book Lecciones sobre Europa II. La unión Europea en el siglo XXI written by Miguel Martínez González and published by Universidad Externado. This book was released on 2015-01-01 with total page 271 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Synopsis Rethinking Free Trade, Economic Integration and Human Rights in the Americas by : María Belén Olmos Giupponi
Download or read book Rethinking Free Trade, Economic Integration and Human Rights in the Americas written by María Belén Olmos Giupponi and published by Bloomsbury Publishing. This book was released on 2017-01-26 with total page 449 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This monograph offers the first systematic overview of the protection of human rights in trade agreements in the Americas. Traditionally, trade agreements in the Americas were concerned with economic questions and paid little attention to human rights. However, in the wake of the 'new regionalism', which emerged at the end of the last century, more clauses addressing social issues such as labour rights and environmental standards were inserted in trade agreements. As economic integration increased, a framework for the protection of human rights evolved. This book argues that this framework allows for human rights protection on a transnational level, while constructing regional identities. Looking at the four key regional integration processes, namely the Caribbean Community, the Central American Integration System, the Andean Community of Nations and the Southern Common Market, and also at the North American Free Trade Agreement, it shows how the integration process has reached a considerable degree of consolidation. Writing on key sources in English for the first time, this book will be essential reading for all free trade and human rights scholars.

Book Synopsis Reappraising European IR Theoretical Traditions by : Knud Erik Jørgensen
Download or read book Reappraising European IR Theoretical Traditions written by Knud Erik Jørgensen and published by Springer. This book was released on 2017-11-14 with total page 134 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is about European IR theoretical traditions, their origins, and key figures. Theorizing is among the most important activities that take place within scientific disciplines. Scholars therefore routinely talk/debate about the discipline of IR and its theories, theories are often used to form the pedagogical backbone of IR and theories are also a key part of scholarly identities. Over time, theories crystalize in to schools of thought, strands of theorizing and theoretical traditions. This book and the volumes that will follow focus on the origins and trajectories of theoretical traditions, and key figures of IR thought in Europe in the 20th Century. The authors are situated in Europe, and it is thus the origins and trajectories of European theoretical traditions, its intellectual history and contemporary forms of theoretical knowledge today, that are on the agenda. In order to achieve this ambitious aim, we opt for a transnational sociological history approach, thus going beyond the national lens through which IR has been predominantly studied. The series will have an integrative function and contribute to a globalized discourse on IR as a discipline. The key benefits of this first volume is that it outlines IR theoretical traditions for the first time ever, provides a novel framework for exploring IR’s theories, and contributes to define and strengthen the European identity of IR. This book is an invaluable resource for scholars of IR.

Book Synopsis Derechos humanos, inmigrantes en situación irregular y Unión Europea by : Ángel G. Chueca Sancho
Download or read book Derechos humanos, inmigrantes en situación irregular y Unión Europea written by Ángel G. Chueca Sancho and published by Lex Nova. This book was released on 2010 with total page 297 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.
Book Synopsis Global, Regional and Local Dimensions of Western Sahara’s Protracted Decolonization by : Raquel Ojeda-Garcia

This book was released on 2016-11-30 with total page 355 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book explores the traces of the passage of time on the protracted and intractable conflict of Western Sahara. The authors offer a multilevel analysis of recent developments from the global to the local scenes, including the collapse of the architecture of the UN-led conflict resolution process, the advent of the War on Terror to the the Sahara-Sahel area and the impact of the ‘Arab Spring’ and growing regional security instability. Special attention is devoted to changes in the Western Sahara territory annexed by Morocco and the Sahrawi refugee camps in Algeria. Morocco has adapted its governance and public policies to profound socio-demographic transformations in the territory under its control and has attempted to obtain international recognition for this annexation by proposing an Autonomy Plan. The Polisario Front and Sahrawi nationalists have shifted their strategy and pushed the centre of gravity of the conflict back inwards by focusing on pro-independence activism inside the disputed territory.
