Download or read book La sémiotique visuelle : nouveaux paradigmes written by and published by Editions L'Harmattan. This book was released on 2010-10-01 with total page 374 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.
Book Synopsis Introduction to Peircean Visual Semiotics by : Tony Jappy
Download or read book Introduction to Peircean Visual Semiotics written by Tony Jappy and published by Bloomsbury Publishing. This book was released on 2013-01-17 with total page 241 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Contemporary culture is as much visual as literary. This book explores an approach to the communicative power of the pictorial and multimodal documents that make up this visual culture, using Peircean semiotics. It develops the enormous theoretical potential of Peirce's theory of signs of signs (semiotics) and the persuasive strategies in which they are employed (visual rhetoric) in a variety of documents. Unlike presentations of semiotics that take the written word as the reference value, this book examines this particular rhetoric using pictorial signs as its prime examples. The visual is not treated as the 'poor relation' to the (written) word. It is therefore possible to isolate more clearly the specific constituent properties of word and image, taking these as the basic material of a wide range of cultural artefacts. It looks at comic strips, conventional photographs, photographic allegory, pictorial metaphor, advertising campaigns and the huge semiotic range exhibited by the category of the 'poster'. This is essential reading for all students of semiotics, introductory and advanced.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book represents a unique collaborative effort to bring together the multiple aspects of the semiotics of images into a coherent approach based on Greimasian and post-Greimasian theory. Starting with a critical discussion of epistemological and theoretical issues and continuing with methodology and numerous examples of applied analysis, it aims to provide the educated reader with a consistent and unified theoretical framework for the semiotic study of visual cultural texts. It offers a comprehensive overview of the semiotics of static images such as painting, drawing, sculpture and photography, but also dynamic images such as cinema, animation and digital games. Readers will benefit from the special emphasis placed on the analysis of the pictorial signifier, visual syntax and the structuring of the semantic universe.

Book Synopsis Drawn to the Word by : Amanda Dillon
Download or read book Drawn to the Word written by Amanda Dillon and published by SBL Press. This book was released on 2021-11-05 with total page 280 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A unique study of lectionaries and graphic design as a site of biblical reception How artists portrayed the Bible in large canvas paintings is frequently the subject of scholarly exploration, yet the presentation of biblical texts in contemporary graphic designs has been largely ignored. In this book Amanda Dillon engages multimodal analysis, a method of semiotic discourse, to explore how visual composition, texture, color, directionality, framing, angle, representations, and interactions produce potential meanings for biblical graphic designs. Dillon focuses on the artworks of two American graphic designers—the woodcuts designed by Meinrad Craighead for the Roman Catholic Sunday Missal and Nicholas Markell’s illustrations for the worship books of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America—to present the merits of multimodal analysis for biblical reception history.
Book Synopsis Ateliers de sémiotique visuelle by : Anne Hénault
Download or read book Ateliers de sémiotique visuelle written by Anne Hénault and published by Presses Universitaires de France - PUF. This book was released on 2004 with total page 268 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

This book was released on 2014-01-01 with total page 897 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Brand Equity Planning with Structuralist Rhetorical Semiotics furnishes an innovative conceptual model and methodology for brand equity planning, with view to addressing a crucial gap in the existing marketing and semiotic literatures concerning how advertising multimodal textual elements may be transformed into brand associations, with an emphasis on rhetorical relata as modes of connectivity between a brand’s surface and depth grammar. The scope of this project is inter-disciplinary, spanning research areas such as brand equity, structuralist semiotics, textual semiotics, visual and film semiotics, multimodal rhetoric, Film theory, psychoanalysis. The proposed connectionist model of the brand trajectory of signification is operationalized through a methodological framework that encompasses a structuralist semiotic interpretative approach to the textual formation of brand equity, supported by quantitative content analysis with the aid of the software Atlas.ti and the application of multivariate mapping techniques.

Book Synopsis L'image et les signes by : Martine Joly
Download or read book L'image et les signes written by Martine Joly and published by Armand Colin. This book was released on 2011-08-24 with total page 248 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Synopsis Á perte de vue by : Daniel Dubuisson
Download or read book Á perte de vue written by Daniel Dubuisson and published by . This book was released on 2015 with total page 448 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.
