Ante este dilema, el autor busca una solución para la crisis de santos que actualmente existe en la Iglesia rehabilitando la noción de "perfección cristiana". Un término que apartándose de su enfoque estrictamente religioso y clerical, es posible redimensionar fijando unas pautas sencillas y concretas para que el pueblo de Dios se acerque a él con confianza y seguridad. Una nueva perspectiva de la santidad abierta a todos, que mediante la búsqueda de Dios en el corazón restituya el vínculo de comunicación que el Señor quiere establecer con cada persona, ayudado por los medios que ha establecido para este fin: La vida interior y los sacramentos de la Iglesia.

In her illuminating interdisciplinary study of Spanish fiction of the "Silver Age," Roberta Johnson places this important body of Spanish literature in context through a synthesis of social, literary, and philosophical history. Her examination of the work of Miguel de Unamuno, Pio Baroja, Azorin, Ramon Perez de Ayala, Juan Ramon Jimenez, Gabriel Miro, Pedro Salinas, Rosa Chacel, and Benjamin Jarnes brings to light philosophical frictions and debates and opens new interpersonal and intertextual perspectives on many of the period's most canonical novels.
