Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A richly illustrated guide to the myths, histories, and science of the celestial bodies of our solar system, with stories and information about constellations, planets, comets, the northern lights, and more. Combining art, mythology, and science, What We See in the Stars gives readers a tour of the night sky through more than 100 magical pieces of original art, all accompanied by text that weaves related legends and lore with scientific facts. This beautifully packaged book covers the night sky's most brilliant features--such as the constellations, the moon, the bright stars, and the visible planets--as well as less familiar celestial phenomena like the outer planets, nebulae, and deep space. Adults seeking to recapture the magic of youthful stargazing, younger readers interested in learning about natural history and outer space, and those who appreciate beautiful, hand-painted art will all delight in this charming book.
Download or read book Nibiru written by Sam and published by Palibrio. This book was released on 2012-09 with total page 321 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.
Download or read book Bolon Tiku written by Jorge Chapa Carreon and published by Palibrio. This book was released on 2012-08 with total page 243 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.
Book Synopsis PARA LEER EN EL METRO Y OTRAS NAVES by : YURI ZAMBRANO

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.
Book Synopsis Dark Constellations by : Pola Oloixarac
Download or read book Dark Constellations written by Pola Oloixarac and published by Soho Press. This book was released on 2019-04-16 with total page 164 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Argentinian literary star Pola Oloixarac’s visionary new novel races from the world of 19th-century science to an ultra-surveilled near future, exploring humanity’s quest for knowledge and control, and leaping forward to the next steps in human evolution. Canary Islands, 1882: Caught in the 19th-century mania for scientific classification, explorer and plant biologist Niklas Bruun researches Crissia pallida, a species alleged to have hallucinogenic qualities capable of eliminating the psychic limits between one human mind and another. Buenos Aires, 1983: Born to a white Argentinian anthropologist and a black Brazilian engineer, Cassio comes of age with the Internet and becomes a prominent hacker, riding the wave of transformations brought about by distributed networks, mass surveillance, and new flows of globalized capital. The southern Argentinian techno-hub of Bariloche, 2024: A research group works on a project that will allow the Ministry of Genetics to track every movement of the country’s citizens without their knowledge or consent, using sensors that identify DNA at a distance. But the new technology contains within it the seeds of a far more radical transformation of human life and civilization. In a novel of towering ambition, Oloixarac’s complexly intertwining stories reveal the power that resides in the world’s most deeply shadowed spaces.
Book Synopsis Latin American Culture and the Limits of the Human by : Lucy Bollington
Download or read book Latin American Culture and the Limits of the Human written by Lucy Bollington and published by University Press of Florida. This book was released on 2020-03-18 with total page 325 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume explores works from Latin American literary and visual culture that question what it means to be human and examine the ways humans and nonhumans shape one another. In doing so, it provides new perspectives on how the region challenges and adds to global conversations about humanism and the posthuman. Contributors identify posthumanist themes across a range of different materials, including an anecdote about a plague of rabbits in Historia de las Indias by Spanish historian Bartolomé de las Casas, photography depicting desert landscapes at the site of Brazil’s War of Canudos, and digital and installation art portraying victims of state-sponsored and drug violence in Colombia and Mexico. The essays illuminate how these cultural texts broach the limits between life and death, human and animal, technology and the body, and people and the environment. They also show that these works use the category of the human to address issues related to race, gender, inequality, necropolitics, human rights, and the role of the environment. Latin American Culture and the Limits of the Human demonstrates that by focusing on the boundary between the human and nonhuman, writers, artists, and scholars can open up new dimensions to debates about identity and difference, the local and the global, and colonialism and power. Book Synopsis Padres y madres en serie by : Visa Barbosa, Mariona (coord.)
Download or read book Padres y madres en serie written by Visa Barbosa, Mariona (coord.) and published by Editorial UOC. This book was released on 2016-09-02 with total page 222 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.
Download or read book Con un par de narices written by Varios autores and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2012-05-10 with total page 103 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.
Book Synopsis Beetle Trilogy Y Otras Obras by : Damián Ortega
Download or read book Beetle Trilogy Y Otras Obras written by Damián Ortega and published by California Institute of the Arts/Redcat. This book was released on 2005 with total page 212 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This first North American monograph on Mexican artist Damian Ortega documents 10 years of work focused on conceptual practice, social organization, and humor, including the installations and performances that make up his acclaimed Beetle Trilogy, several works never before exhibited and a great deal of unpublished material. Most of what's here hasn't been seen before. The first episode of the trilogy, "The Cosmic Thing," a disassembled Volkswagen suspended in the air, was featured in Gabriel Orozco's Il Quotidiano Alterato at the 2003 Venice Biennale, and was one of the most widely reproduced images of that year's exhibition. "Moby Dick," a heroic action involving the artist's Beetle, a live band, ropes and pulleys, followed, and then "Beetle '83 Escarabajo," a ritual return to the vehicle's place of birth, closed the cycle. The Beetle Trilogy and Other Works includes a new comic, 150 color images and an original essay by Hari Kunzru, author of The Impressionist and one of Granata's 20 "Best Young British Novelists" in 2003.
