Book Synopsis The Capability Approach and the Sustainable Development Goals by : Brian Vincent Ikejiaku
Download or read book The Capability Approach and the Sustainable Development Goals written by Brian Vincent Ikejiaku and published by Taylor & Francis. This book was released on 2024-07-26 with total page 343 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book demonstrates how the capability approach to human development can contribute to the realisation of the 2015 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The capability approach dictates that success should not be measured by economic indicators but by people leading meaningful, free, fulfilled, happy, or satisfied lives. Drawing from a range of disciplinary perspectives, this book argues that it is vital that the focus for the SDGs should shift to benefiting the most vulnerable. Case studies from across Asia, Africa, Latin America (Global South), and the United States, the United Kingdom, and Australia (Global North) consider how the capability approach can contribute as a practical framework to achieving the SDGs’ ambitions for social, economic, political, and legal progress. Drawing on insights from a range of disciplines, this book will be of interest to researchers and practitioners from the fields of law, politics, international relations, criminology, international development, sociology, public policy, area studies, and others.
Book Synopsis Trabajo social y salud pública by : Alfredo Hidalgo Lavié
Download or read book Trabajo social y salud pública written by Alfredo Hidalgo Lavié and published by EDITORIAL SANZ Y TORRES S.L.. This book was released on with total page 313 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Intervención psicodinámica y apoyo a la salud mental de personas migrantes written by Marta Pérez Adroher and published by Universidad Pontifica Comillas. This book was released on 2020-12-18 with total page 124 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Synopsis Ambivalences of Inclusion in Society and Social Work by : Stephan Bundschuh
Download or read book Ambivalences of Inclusion in Society and Social Work written by Stephan Bundschuh and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2020-10-28 with total page 181 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book represents the work of the European Research Network: Inclusive Society and the Role of Social Work, which comprises researchers from Barcelona, Spain; Koblenz, Germany; Maastricht, The Netherlands; and Zagreb, Croatia. The authors present research results and reflections from these four different European countries to provide a comprehensive introduction and discussion of the ambivalences of inclusive processes in society and social work. The development towards an inclusive society is a subject of ongoing discussion in Europe. How the subject is addressed, through an examination of political and social characteristics, differs significantly by country. Each country-specific chapter includes evidence-based reflections on inclusive society and the role of social work: In The Netherlands, there is evidence of a top-down process implementing inclusive social policy and social work principles through the self-proclaimed ‘participation society’. In Spain, the process to inclusion is accompanied by the third sector often replacing governmental responsibilities, namely through the bottom-up activities of non-governmental organizations in social work. In Croatia, inclusion is a state initiative in transitioning society and an academic approach to deinstitutionalising social work. In Germany, inclusion is discussed in social systems theory and the reform of school systems. In the migration discourse it was introduced as a less-loaded alternative to integration. Ambivalences of Inclusion in Society and Social Work: Research-Based Reflections in Four European Countries is a useful resource for learners, teachers, practitioners, and researchers in social work, as well as those who have an interest in social policy, social welfare, and sociology.

Book Synopsis People, Care and Work in the Home by : Mohamed Gamal Abdelmonem
Download or read book People, Care and Work in the Home written by Mohamed Gamal Abdelmonem and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2020-05-18 with total page 272 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Introducing novel theoretical, empirical and practical investigations with case studies from UK, Europe, South America and South East Asia, the book offers a novel global outlook on how contemporary homes are facing genuine challenges from operational, economic, spatial, social and wellbeing perspectives. The changing demographics of our modern society have inevitably impacted the dynamics and relationships within the home from being personal and private to that of multiple work relationships; domestic work, care for older people, or supporting people with special needs. Whilst the home is a concept universally experienced, permeating every aspect of our lives, it remains an entity whose influence on health and wellbeing is poorly understood. This book brings together 17 different contributions from scholars, researchers and practitioners from different disciplinary and professional backgrounds including three feature articles by leading figures, such as Lord Best and Baroness Hollins. The chapters are organised within three parts that look at the triangle of people + work + care in the home. At a time when homes are increasingly becoming local hubs for care and wellbeing, this volume is a critical and useful addition to current literature in the social sciences, humanities, economics, culture, care and wellbeing in the domestic sphere.
