Además, aprender idiomas resulta útil también para encontrar una ocupación. Las ventajas de conocer más de una lengua no pasan desapercibidas por la política europea. Frente a un mundo conectado y globalizado, donde el multilingüismo es una realidad diaria, sea en la escuela o en el trabajo, la política lingüística del Consejo de Europa está haciendo considerables esfuerzos para promover la enseñanza de lenguas en las escuelas de los países miembros. Su objetivo es el de “facilitar la comunicación y la interacción entre europeos que tienen distintas lenguas maternas con el fin de fomentar la movilidad en Europa, la comprensión mutua y la colaboración, y vencer los prejuicios y la discriminación.” Para lograr este objetivo, los alumnos europeos entran en contacto con idiomas extranjeros desde una edad temprana, para que al terminar la escuela puedan comunicarse en dos lenguas además de la materna. De igual manera, la Comisión Europea ha tomado diferentes otras medidas para promover el multilingüismo, como por ejemplo el programa Erasmus + que promueve los semestres en el extranjero ofreciendo una beca de estudios y la creación de un Marco Común Europeo de Referencia para las Lenguas que define el estándar internacional de las competencias lingüísticas. Sin embargo, estudios muestran que hay grandes discrepancias entre los Estados miembros de la Unión Europea al respecto de las competencias lingüísticas de los alumnos. Para fomentar el dominio de las lenguas extranjeras han surgido métodos de enseñanza innovadores que prevén un aprendizaje auténtico y cercano a la realidad del alumno. Un enfoque que alcanza cada año más reconocimiento, es el CLIL, o sea el Content and Language Integrated Learning. Este enfoque prevé el aprendizaje de las lenguas extranjeras a través de las asignaturas comunes. El objetivo de este trabajo es el de presentar una sinopsis de lo que es exactamente el enfoque CLIL y explicar por qué motivo especialmente la asignatura de teatro es apta para la aplicación de este enfoque. Como último punto se hará una propuesta a modo de ejemplo por una unidad pedagógica interdisciplinaria entre la asignatura de teatro y Español Lengua Extranjera según el enfoque CLIL.
