Book Synopsis X-Ray and Neutron Diffraction by : G. E. Bacon
Download or read book X-Ray and Neutron Diffraction written by G. E. Bacon and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2013-09-03 with total page 393 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: X-Ray and Neutron Diffraction describes the developments of the X-ray and the various research done in neutron diffraction. Part I of the book concerns the principles and applications of the X-ray and neutrons through their origins from classical crystallography. The book explains the use of diffraction methods to show the highly regular arrangement of atoms that forms a continuous pattern in three-dimensional space. The text evaluates the limitations and benefits of using the different types of radiation sources, whether these are X-rays, neutrons, or electrons. Part II is a collection of reprints discussing the development of techniques that includes a modification of the Bragg method, which is a method of X-ray crystal analysis. One paper presents an improved numerical method of two-dimensional Fourier synthesis for crystals. This method uses a greatly reduced process of arrangement of sets of figures found in the two-dimensional Fourier series. The book also notes the theoretical considerations and the practical details, and then addresses precautions against possible inclusions of errors in this method. The text deals as well with the magnetic scattering of neutrons, and one paper presents a simple method of gathering information about the magnetic moment of the neutron besides the traditional Stern-Gerlach method. Nuclear scientists and physicists, atomic researchers, and nuclear engineers will greatly appreciate the book.

Download or read book X-Ray Diffraction written by Oliver H. Seeck and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2015-02-10 with total page 438 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: High-resolution x-ray diffraction and scattering is a key tool for structure analysis not only in bulk materials but also at surfaces and buried interfaces from the sub-nanometer range to micrometers. This book offers an overview of diffraction and scattering methods currently available at modern synchrotron sources and illustrates bulk and interface investigations of solid and liquid matter with up-to-date research examples. It presents important characteristics of the sources, experimental set-up, and new detector developments. The book also considers future exploitation of x-ray free electron lasers for diffraction applications.

Download or read book Diffraction X-ray Optics, written by A.I. Erko and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 1996 with total page 188 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Diffraction X-ray Optics provides a systematic description of the performance and mathematical properties of diffraction x-ray optical elements based upon artificially made microstructures. This description is presented both theoretically (using kinematic diffraction theory and classical optics) and experimentally (including details of the experimental verification of theoretical data). The microstructures which are considered include: plane zone plates, two and three dimensional gratings, multilayer mirrors and three dimensional Fresnel structures. The book also includes a detailed description of the main principles, technology and applications of both Bragg-Fresnel multilayer optics and x-ray Fourier optics. Special attention is paid to coherent phenomena in the x-ray region, x-ray holography and Bragg-Fresnel optics and with chapters covering absorption and refraction, planar diffraction, volume holography, fabrication techniques and microscopy this book will prove a useful sourcebook to both researchers and development engineers in the field.
