Book excerpt: Coming of Age in Madrid is a longitudinal study of twenty-seven Moroccan youth who migrated to Madrid as unaccompanied minors, passed their adolescence in the Spanish child-care system, and embarked on their lives as young adults; interviews were conducted over a period of six years in Spain and Morocco. The stories begin with narrators lives in Morocco, contextualizing their migratory experience, then follows them children traveling alone as they across the Strait of Gibraltar and make their way to Madrid; the study also engages with those who were deported, crossing the Strait once again as they were returned to Morocco. Using qualitative interviews to capture narrators accounts in their own words, this oral history examines their identity trans/formation, integration, and acculturation in Spain. Their individual voices and their collective wisdom contribute to an understanding of their experiences and by extension, that of unaccompanied child migrants everywhere, revealing larger lessons to be learned. Documenting their transition into adulthood, the book poses the crucial question, What becomes of unaccompanied migrant minors when they come of age? Unaccompanied minor migration is on the rise throughout the world, it is the new normal. As Spain and other nations grapple with increasing numbers of unaccompanied children on their borders, the importance of this study has immediate relevance for government policies and migration research. The history of unaccompanied Moroccan minors coming of age in Madrid contributes to the broader geographical discussion by responding to calls for contextualized, micro-scale, local research and the foregrounding and centralizing of the young migrants themselves.

Para estos curas no existen conceptos como vida eterna u otras entelequias teológicas; para ellos Dios es el día a día, el gesto de compartir y acoger a quien más lo necesita aunque eso suponga violar la ley.

The opening section of the book (“CLIL in action: Practical considerations”) provides a window into how CLIL implementation is unravelling at the grassroots level vis-á-vis key aspects for CLIL development, such as the design of materials, the use of ICT, and the importance of extramural exposure. The second part (“The effects of CLIL on language learning: Research-based evidence”) explores some key areas for future research, showcasing how engaging in research as a device that drives reflection is the best possible way to continue moving the CLIL agenda forward. Finally, in the third part (“Preparing teachers for CLIL: Practical proposals”), the interface of research and pedagogy is discussed, as the former informs the latter in a clear instantiation of what Coyle (2011) terms “evidence-based practice” in setting necessary teacher training actions in place. As such, the volume addresses three burning issues in the CLIL scenario through practical and research-based proposals of tried-and-true CLIL development. If all three strands – implementation, research, and training – dovetail and progress in harmony, a solid template will be built for the future and the CLIL agenda will be pushed forward. The studies aimed at providing insights into elementary reactions, and go beyond these to more complexchemical reactions. By comparison of the reaction probabilities of H+ + H2 using adiabatic and non-adiabatic methods, it was found that, at low collision energies, the reaction preferentially occurs adiabatically, but at higher collision energies non-adiabatic effects should be taken into account. For H- + H2 and its isotopologues, we can see that, at low collision energies, the reaction probabilities and reaction cross section using SM-PES and AY-PES are very similar but different from PS-PES. The reaction cross sections investigated with quasi-classical trajectoriesare higher than those calculated with quantum wavepackets. For the collision H- and D- with HD, the main reaction path ways are different with the different collision energies.
