Book Synopsis Principios de Economía Política by : Carl Menger
Download or read book Principios de Economía Política written by Carl Menger and published by Bubok. This book was released on 2012-10-23 with total page 225 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Download or read book Política written by Phillip B. Gonzales and published by U of Nebraska Press. This book was released on 2016-10 with total page 1079 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Política offers a stunning revisionist understanding of the early political incorporation of Mexican-origin peoples into the U.S. body politic in the nineteenth century. Historical sociologist Phillip B. Gonzales reexamines the fundamental issue in New Mexico’s history, namely, the dramatic shift in national identities initiated by Nuevomexicanos when their province became ruled by the United States. Gonzales provides an insightful, rigorous, and controversial interpretation of how Nuevomexicano political competition was woven into the Democratic and Republican two-party system that emerged in the United States between the 1850s and 1912, when New Mexico became a state. Drawing on newly discovered archival and primary sources, he explores how Nuevomexicanos relied on a long tradition of political engagement and a preexisting republican disposition and practice to elaborate a dual-party political system mirroring the contours of U.S. national politics. Política is a tour de force of political history in the nineteenth-century U.S.–Mexico borderlands that reinterprets colonization, reconstructs Euro-American and Nuevomexicano relations, and recasts the prevailing historical narrative of territorial expansion and incorporation in North American imperial history. Gonzales provides critical insights into several discrete historical processes, such as U.S. racialization and citizenship, integration and marginalization, accommodation and resistance, internal colonialism, and the long struggle for political inclusion in the borderlands, shedding light on debates taking place today over Latinos and U.S. citizenship.

Book Synopsis El cacao Guayaquil en nueva España, 1774-1812 (política imperial, mercado y consumo) by : Manuel Miño Grijalva
Download or read book El cacao Guayaquil en nueva España, 1774-1812 (política imperial, mercado y consumo) written by Manuel Miño Grijalva and published by El Colegio de Mexico AC. This book was released on 2014-01-30 with total page 311 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.
Book Synopsis Economía política desde Estambul a Potosí by : Fernando Ramos Palencia
Download or read book Economía política desde Estambul a Potosí written by Fernando Ramos Palencia and published by Universitat de València. This book was released on 2012-07 with total page 335 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

This book was released on 2021 with total page 373 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Download or read book Border Culture written by Ilan Stavans and published by Bloomsbury Publishing USA. This book was released on 2010-02-09 with total page 365 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The border between the United States and Mexico, despite attempts at containment, remains a vast and uniquely malleable yet indefinable region. With Border Culture, Ilan Stavans has collected essays representative of the tangled experiences and issues central to life between cultures. Divided into two sections, Border Culture covers topics essential to better understanding this often misunderstood region and state-of-mind. The first section, "Considerations," culls essays covering socio-economic and political topics illustrating the hyper reality of life and living on La Frontera. Section two, "Testimonios," takes careful consideration of lives affected by the border, either as a finite place, alternate universe, or the framework of the border as a state-of-mind, through various historic and literary accounts of La Frontera. This enlightening and comprehensive collection will no doubt help readers better understand border culture.
Book Synopsis International Handbook of Disaster Research by : Amita Singh
Download or read book International Handbook of Disaster Research written by Amita Singh and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2023-09-30 with total page 2538 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This handbook is a comprehensive source of information, analysis and directions in disaster studies. It goes beyond the oft-explored issues of management and science related to the topic and explores policies, governance, law and decision-making combined with the processes of implementation and enforcement, all the while integrating the latest science and technology updates related to the topic, such as artificial intelligence and early warning systems. It brings together studies which relate to sociology, politics and institutional economics, which work under the impact of resource availability, issues of leadership and international laws. Disasters are trans-boundary and disaster studies are trans-disciplinary. It is this aspect which would form the fulcrum of contributions and present a new, refreshing and innovative design for the handbook. The transformatory pedagogy which started with the Hyogo Framework for action 2005-2015 and The Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction 2015-2030 outlines seven clear targets and four priorities for action to prevent new and reduce existing disaster risks. The four priority areas around which the book would revolve are (i) Understanding disaster risk; (ii) Strengthening disaster risk governance to manage disaster risk; (iii) Investing in disaster reduction for resilience and; (iv) Enhancing disaster preparedness for effective response, and to "Build Back Better" in recovery, rehabilitation and reconstruction.

Book Synopsis Making Aztlán by : Juan Gómez-Quiñones
Download or read book Making Aztlán written by Juan Gómez-Quiñones and published by UNM Press. This book was released on 2014-04-30 with total page 494 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides a long-needed overview of the Chicana and Chicano movement’s social history as it grew, flourished, and then slowly fragmented. The authors examine the movement’s origins in the 1960s and 1970s, showing how it evolved from a variety of organizations and activities united in their quest for basic equities for Mexican Americans in U.S. society. Within this matrix of agendas, objectives, strategies, approaches, ideologies, and identities, numerous electrifying moments stitched together the struggle for civil and human rights. Gómez-Quiñones and Vásquez show how these convergences underscored tensions among diverse individuals and organizations at every level. Their narrative offers an assessment of U.S. society and the Mexican American community at a critical time, offering a unique understanding of its civic progress toward a more equitable social order.
