The book offers not only a broad understanding of assessment and communication skills, but also of the ethical, legal, cultural, and professional considerations that come with psychoeducational evaluation. And its sample reports model clear, well-organized results accessible to parents and caregivers as well as teachers and colleagues. Key areas of coverage include: • Assessment basics: the testing environment and protocols, interviewing, and observation. • Report writing section by section, from reason for referral to summary and recommendations. • Guidelines for oral reporting, with case examples. • Special issues in psychoeducational assessment and report writing. • Sample psychoeducational reports using this framework. Psychoeducational Assessment and Report Writing is an essential text for graduate students, researchers, professors, and professionals in child and school psychology; assessment, testing, and evaluation; social work; and psychological methods/evaluation.

Book excerpt: Back in print with its original title, Harold Weisberg’s detailed and devastating analysis of the Martin Luther King assassination is as timely as ever. Originally published in 1970, this book examines the circumstances of the murder, accused assassin James Earl Ray’s flight and capture, and the failures of the justice system in this case. While many books about the King assassination have followed Frame-Up, this work remains unrivaled in its retelling of the circumstances which led Ray to plead guilty in a grossly inadequate “mini trial,” and Ray’s almost immediate failed attempt to retract this confession. Weisberg also dissects the evidence in the case, and concludes that while Ray was a part of the conspiracy, he did not shoot Dr. King, serving as another “patsy” in the troubling assassinations of the 1960s.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Chad Littlefield riding in the passenger seat gets a text from Chris Kyle saying, This dude is straight up nuts Watch my six. A police officer pulled up to the house. The officer told Taya, Chris has been hurt. Have you seen Chris truck? Taya called her mother and told her something was wrong. American soldier and patriot Chris Kyle died unexpectedly on home soil at the top of his game with all the glory and medals one man could ever imagine. Suddenly, a wife was left without a husband and children without a father. The trial of his alleged killer, Eddie Ray Routh, was soon to begin when Robert Blevins felt a need to be present at the legal proceedings. Blevins had followed the tragic case from the beginning, but something in his gut told him he had to attend the trial. He traveled to Stephenville, Texas, and became witness to what would be a judicial process wrought with emotional upheaval and anger. He witnessed families experience the pain of losing a child as well as watching a child go to prison. Not immune to the emotions around him, Blevins, too, descended into despair at the loss of Chris Kyle. To Blevins, there are not enough men like Kylebrave soldiers who fight for our freedom.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Feminist concern with difference has rarely extended to rurality even if it is now widely recognized that experiences of inequality depend on intersections of several identities in each individual life. This lack of concern may reflect the urban background of the majority of feminist academics or at least their urban positionality once in the academy. It may equivalently be that feminists have been influenced by stereotypes of rural women as traditional and reactionary, and thus seen them as unlikely exponents of gender equality, and an unfruitful focus for scholarly energies. Perhaps the problem is a broader one, that is, reflective of the much documented, but still apparent unwillingness of many feminists to recognize and address difference in any of its manifestations. Regardless, even with the recent interest in intersectionality which has necessarily renewed and reenergized debates in feminism about diversity and inclusion, the question of how women are differently positioned because of their non-metropolitan location has remained largely overlooked.
